@@shivtim I agree. I guess it depends. I know some people in grad school and living outside of their home city or country and they're not in the mood to put down roots or spend a lot of money. So they get a very basic utilitarian setup since, let's face it, grad school is research, sleep, eat if you're lucky. But as someone who has always been an apartment dweller, I choose mine based on longevity and livability. Even if I know i'll only be there for one lease term.

I would agree with him that the upper balcony isn't the best for socializing, since guests would have to walk through your bedroom to access it. And it's also much narrower. I'd use the bottom for socializing, but I'd definitely use the top for myself. I'd have a little lounge out there, fr.

At the end of the day he is actually paying less than he would for this 5 bedroom home you mentioned. Considering the number of days when you would actually want to spend time outdoors in NYC, three outdoor spaces is, indeed, excess, as is having two full bathrooms. But I can understand why this fellow would want to stay there indefinitely. Until the landlord realizes what a gem this is and doubles the rent. ;-)

You get your stuff back all clean, sweet-smelling, pressed and folded. At least, that's how many of us handled our laundry long ago when I lived in San Francisco.

Wow, this is by far my favourite NYC apartment I've seen - the interior is nicely done and of course those outdoor spaces.

Is he single? 😄 It is the first place that I saw on here, that I could imagine living in. It is definitely a home not just an apartment.

For NYC and for all you get from this apartment, $4100 is a fabulous price.

Ben's place is sweeeeet! I LOVE the upper west side! I dated someone who lived in that neighborhood, and I'd love to have a place there. Your video made me homesick for NYC.

Love all the furnishings and the plethora of outdoor spaces. In my mind, I'm out there with my Bustelo espresso enjoying the roar of the city. And wondering how many defective smiles Ben has to fix to pay one months rent. I'd say one, maybe two. I'm probably wrong because I'm not a dentist. Thank God. If your dentist was a sadist, how would you know? Things to contemplate on your balcony. If someone drools into your okra, how would you know? Hmmmmm

That advise he gave, don't brush too hard. I wish someone had told me that as a kid! I'm 35 and I'm having fillings done on teeth that aren't at all decayed yet because I have brushed the enamel away and my dentist is now doing preventative care.

l like the way you check out the neighborhood--- it enriches the tours. l worked in NYC years ago, and l'm drawn to clips, like yours, that recall the all-inclusive feeling that makes the city so brilliant.
