    Billionaires row is a death trap. Many of the building including this one have been taken to court due to over 150 defects; however , the court case isn’t being publicised much as the owners of the apartments don’t want you to know about it. This makes sense when you understand that 70% of the owned apartments aren’t occupied due to there purchasers being foreign investors who bought into it hoping for a future profit. Beautiful apartments and views that will have their legacy destroyed by poor construction.

    “Many of the buildings including this one have been taken to court…” 🙄 It’s exactly one building, and it’s not this one; get real. All 1500+ construction and design defects are related to one problematic building - 432 Park Avenue - which is/was at the center of the (singular) lawsuit you’re referring to. I can never understand why so many people try to either needlessly exaggerate or completely fabricate things online just to punctuate a point they’re already making anyway.

    It absolutely is an investment. Those with money buy them just to bury or hide money. I'd bet the owners rarely live there. Property taxes are typically less than income tax. They can write off depreciation over time. Depending how it's owned a clever tax attorney could get it written off as a business expense

  • @NK-bj8li

    Your right, about 70% of owned apartments are not occupied. And as far as property taxes go, due to this being classed as a ‘large residential’ you pay less tax then a ‘small residential’ which often equals to paying the same amount as a 3 bed townhouse.

In the 1970s you couldn't enter the park in many areas even during the day lest you get mugged- in the 80s and 90s it was mostly at night that it was dangerous. Now it's only the very North part of the park that is deserted and dangerous at night. Most people don't drive in NYC so traffic isn't really an issue. It's actually quite nice never having to worry about driving and being able to walk, bike, or take the train to everything. The one thing these expensive buildings are missing is direct access to the subway so you never have to go in or out via street level like the old Waldorf Astoria spur. Also these supertalls don't really sway that much as they have giant dampers to counteract any motion caused by wind.

  • @pistonburner6448

    @pistonburner6448

    11 ай бұрын

    @@jdanon203 "People don't drive" is not a valid answer, as they still can't get around any better! It's still a massive expanse of slum for hours in each direction. Going to the crime-infested, disease-infested, urine-smelling (and worse), polluted particulate-filled air of the subway is not an alternative any sane person wants to use either. The wealthy take a car service to the airport and fly away, but that is one of the worst experiences in New York when comparing internationally. And why even live in New York with all its problems and massive cost & taxation and almost certainly dropping property prices (in comparison to other places at least) if all you do is sit in your apartment, then sit in a car, then fly away? You're right that they have dampers, but they still sway. They have the dampers to make the swaying low enough for the stucture to stay intact, dampers absolutely do not remove the swaying.
