A "Cult of Personality" refers to a charismatic individual who has the ability to motivate/sway/persuade people by the sheer force of their personality alone. It does not matter if what they are saying is rooted in reason or reality. They can make you believe whatever they want you to ("I tell you one and one makes three"). Not only that, people will follow such an individual regardless of how they are manipulated by such a leader ("I exploit you, still you love me..."). It is an admonishment to not fall victim to the cult of personality but to take personal responsibility for the content of your own mind ("only you can set you free!")

This is a good era to be an aging metalhead. Back in 1988, we got to experience this band for the first time, and now we get to experience them again for the "first time" (vicariously) through other people. All of us white metal dudes back in the day loved bands like this (& Fishbone and 24/7 Spyz and other funkified rock bands, or King's X) because they went so hard, just like metal bands. We considered this "metal," whether or not anyone else did. And anything that broadened our favorite genre of music, we liked. We felt like we wanted to tell people, "see? this is how metal can be; it's not limited to what you think it is." So anyway, yeah, it's fun, seeing so many people appreciating something from a genre that was sometimes regarded as the bottom of the musical bin, back in the day.

@@Tomekkplk the solo is meant to be “sloppy”. It’s chaos like the rest of the song and the meaning behind the lyrics. It’s a work of pure genius. I’ll take Vernon playing with passion of EVH playing with technique and zero emotion any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Rolling Stone put him at #66 of the 100 greatest guitarists so you are wrong to say no one mentioned him. I’d put him higher than that. He’s definitely in my top 10 favorites for sure.

@@Tomekkplk the solo was meant to be chaotic, and raw with emotion. Calling his playing sloppy is incorrect. And yes I play. Seems like if you did, you would have understood what he was going for here. Whats your next criticism Hendrix version of the star spangled banner didn't sound like the Mormon tabernacle choir? And Rolling Stone ranked him the 66th greatest guitar player back in 2003(not that I care what they think) but he is on the list and in many people's conversation.

The opening was from Malcom X's speech "Message to the Grass Roots". The title was penned by Nikita Khrushchev in response to Joseph Stalin "On the Cult of Personality and Its Consequences". Other historical figures seen and heard in this video include JFK, FDR, MLK, Benito Mussolini, and Mahatma Gandhi. According to Vernon Reid, "a famous German" was originally also in the lyrics but was pulled due to fear that referring to him would be misconstrued and too controversial.

This song was so ahead of its time. Think of the enigmatic, charismatic leaders that we’ve had, the people who have an army of blind followers who will burn everything if told to. “You gave me fortune, you gave me fame, you gave me power in your gods name, I’m every person you need to be…” Who does that sound like? Maybe a certain former president whose fame and fortune and status only grew after his legion of conservative supporters made him this god like figure in the eyes of their party.

Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock. Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world. I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control (Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it) also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them :D

The basic idea in the song is how people give the power to people good or bad. Stalin who killed millions and he is given Gandi as his counter. The point about MKL was a great leader if he really speaks for good you die. An Evil leader like Stalin will often live, but good is often killed. The bad people the vast majority of politicians are like that. They tell the masses 1+1=3. They agree and in turn give power to those saying it. Even if it is wrong those leaders know how far they can push it.

I know I'm late to the wagon. Maybe you should give a listen to a group called The family stand, there's a few other black rock bands out there or bands that have black front singers between rock, metal, rock rap, Rasta core and other types of black influence rock type music. If you do live in color again ,the song Type would be a great one

You ask for suggestions I have one that I will give you. This is from a movie sound track. The movie was released in 1966 in Europe, then in 1966 in the U.S. The composer of the music is Ennio Morricone, he is an Italian man who is known for some of the most amazing film scores in history. The piece of music is covered by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, it is 2 major pieces from the movie. It is the opening theme and Ecstasy of Gold scene. I can assure that this will grab your heart and soul, and cause you to feel things unimaginable emotionally, in a good way of course, that being said he is the YT link for the music. kzread.info/dash/bejne/l6KpsaOrdcnXd9I.html I look forward to seeing you react to this, and thank you in advance.

This kind of music really does energize you. I liked your reaction. I'd like to suggest reacting to the song "Red Like Roses" by Jeff Williams, with his daughter Casey Lee and his wife singing it. It's a great song that's part of a soundtrack for a pretty famous web series called RWBY. Casey was 12 years old when she sang it and she's still singing the soundtrack songs for the series 9 seasons later. Here's the full part 1 and 2 of the song: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X6uNtMyEgM7dcqg.html I hope you enjoy it.
