Living Authentically & Going Against the Grain: Amber Marshall's Path to Self-Discovery

In this episode I had the pleasure of sitting down with my old friend Amber Marshall once again. We dive into her journey as an actress, her love for animals, and the importance of staying true to oneself in the entertainment industry, even when faced with societal expectations.
Make sure to tune in on October 1st at 7 PM for the new season of Heartland on CBC. And don't forget to visit TimeHasCome.com to join the podcast after party with Amber, where you can ask her questions and hang out with other members to discuss the podcast episode.
Thank you to Amber Marshall for being on the show and sharing your heart and farm, and to Kerry James for the awesome camera work and drone footage. And remember, copies of my new book of poetry are available on Amazon, or you can grab one from Marshall's Country Store in Turner Valley, Alberta.

Hi John , I’ve seen your comments and replies. I definitely appreciate them. So just a question, did you notice a bit distanced between them ? When Amber mentioned her anniversary, Graham didn’t say anything. And the interview seemed more like a talk show host asking questions, some silly . Just wanted your thoughts. Thank you

@@ernestminnix468 If your asking do Ty and Amy get divorced in the series-no they do not. Are you asking if they’re married in real life, no they are not . Amber is married supposedly to a man named Shawn, Graham got divorced awhile back. So far I haven’t seen anything about Graham being married. Hope this helps you.

As some who recently started watching Heartland, is has been difficult to not binge watch all the way through Season 15. Hoping Netflix will continue airing the seasons. Although I have paced myself and happy to discover these podcasts with Amy and Graham. They are so authentic and inspirational. Thank you Graham for continuing your wonderful relationship with Amber, and sharing it. As I get ready to turn 75, I have loved my career in horticulture. However, I now want to turn my attention to finding a path in another direction, working or volunteering with animals. Thank you both for this podcast, it is helping me find a new direction for my authentic self.

As I was sitting here listening to you all talk about some deep stuff…. This verse God just placed on my heart to share with the both of you… may it encourage you all and anyone else who reads this. When you don’t know which path to take, God gives us a promise if we seek Him for those answers. “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” Psalms 32:8 At times in my life I haven’t always known what was the best path or know which way to go… but as a child of God, follower of Jesus… If we are saved, and His spirit lives within us… He sends us the Comforter (The Holy Spirit) who will teach us, lead us, warn us, instruct us, and so much more. Just as she was saying, sometimes you just know if you don’t need to do something or go somewhere… that’s God working in us. His Word (The Bible) is a lamp unto our feet, and a light unto our path. I loved watching Heartland, and love hearing your thoughts and questions.. God bless you both, and may He lead you in all things. 😊

I was thinking the same thing. I’m a child of God and Jesus is my savior when I accepted Jesus I received his Holy Spirit which leads and guides me…The Holy Bible is God’s living word speaking to us … it’s our manual for life and I follow the example Jesus left for me and God speaks to me leading me and guiding me.

Disclaimer: I could care less what anyone's "opinion" of my comment is: this is solely for Amber (do don't waste your time ). Amber, have you considered who created you? (not your parents - they were just carriers ) .... My hope is you will connect with Yahweh - your creator - the creator of heaven and earth - and ALL creatures great and small . HE created us in HIS image - and knew every hair on your head before you were born Sooo..... I too, worked for a vet out of High School... I too, have had horses all my life - and many other creatures (great and small😋) ... You and I are so much alike in many ways ... except I do not go by my "feelings" alone - "what feels right" ... as I know (and am too old not to...) that there is much deceit in this world - no matter who you are - and we as humans need our "Heavenly Father" - as we listen to our "moral compass" that comes from HIM - and that IS GOD telling you right from wrong ... but what about people who "think" what they are doing is "right"...like looting a store, hijacking a car, etc... THOSE things feel "right" for them... YES, they do - just some Food for thought...... 😒 May Blessings to continue for you, Amber... Pray you will ask GOD to show you WHO HE is ...and why you should believe in HIM....Much love oxoxo🥰🙏🙏 from the United States - GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Love that Amber is true to herself and doesn't have to follow the Hollywood or actor's way of life. Actually, it seems like all the Heartland actors are this way. Not a fan of Grahams hair, because he always had great hair, but still looks good❤️ The only thing I am not impressed by is that if it feels right or wrong. God set good and bad, its not for any of us to decide what is good or bad. Hope that someday she takes the bible out while relaxing with the animals and reads it. Gods path is the only way. She actually speaks of somethings that are Gods way, but she needs to understand God gives her those thoughts and feelings. If she invites the Lord into her heart, there would be no stopping her! ❤

Keep making seasons of Heartland,. I love that show, and I was like Amber growing up. I wasn't into girl dolls, I was more of a tomboy. I had dogs, cats, one horse that was my brothers, but I groomed him, brushed him, fed and watered him. My dad built a corral with iron pipes for him to stay. His name was Blaze. He was a beautiful horse. My dad offered to buy him from my brother, since he basically was my horse. But my alcoholic brother sold him out from under me

Additionally, Graham, your questions, while meant for Amber created a greater insight into your thoughts and ideas. We have gotten to know both of you as actors, but this conversation has allowed us a brief glimpse into your humanity. I am an older fellow that has been around quite a few years, and I must compliment both of you for your wisdom beyond your years. Amber has expressed beautifully, the need to be true to yourself, but you too Graham, have demonstrated that character as well. I enjoyed listening to Amber's core values of believing who you are as an individual, not who you are on screen. I'm like that as well, I prefer being with animals when I want to unwind. People put so many expectations on you, but animals accept you for who you are, not who they want you to be. My dog curls up next to me when I'm tired or feeling like quiet time. Everybody should have those kinds of parents who allow you to be who you are with full acceptance.

Having that sense of moral self is a huge blessing, especially when young. Being taught to have a moral self is also huge. It's funny, a lot of how Amber operates is exactly what is taught in the bible. Get quiet, tap into what feels to be the right thing, don't worry because it adds nothing, and just trust that you are going the right way when doing the former things. The only difference is the connection with God as the compass. Yes, nature does ground us and shows us where we started from is also where we need to reset our minds and hearts to. Love Graham! He is a great soul. I could see that in his character, Ty and in this podcast. Also want to say great job to Kerry on the production and filmwork in this. Very well done!

I didn’t see anyone question why Graham didn’t say happy anniversary. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but with all that I have read-it definitely makes you wonder.

@@jeanmillburg3343 I think we all would agree that they are still under contract and can’t say anything. You’re right, there wasn’t much eye contact. I was a little surprised that Graham mentioned Shawn -was that to throw people off ??? For me I thought the interview was robotic, with some humor . It wasn’t friendly like, like a real interview . If Graham does have a significant other, I’m happy for him. You can’t keep chasing a dream !!!!

It's so funny she mentions that scene in the opening credits, because that is my favorite shot where the horse reaches out and nips the other her horse. It's such a natural scene, and who doesn't love to watch a herd of horses run 😊

A awesome podcast with Graham and Amber...so great to them together like many if us have said...been a loyal fan since the very beginning with te very first Episode of Heartland...then totally hooked! 🤗🤗 Canada for me and my family especially Vancouver Island has always had a special place in my heart and the residents are so warm just like Graham and Amber and all the cast on set!! We need in our world more people who show compassion and love towards other people and the love you feel towards the horses, and the family unit being so close. I am just a regular guy so looking forward to seeing series 17 coming to England over the next maybe march to june 😁 Thank you again for a podcast full of great questions from Graham and energy and positivity and a passion for keeping busy from Amber. The love of horses that Graham and Amber share and show as i do also which brings such joy fulfilling. And the comment Amber makes about being true to yourself my father used to instill in me. Thank you again Graham and Amber for such a thought provoking connection that we can all interact and inspiring! ❤️❤️

enjoyed the episode. Lots of good morals and values. But it makes me sad that Honors didn't go where honor was due! Our Heavenly Father created us in such a unique way to be able to define right from wrong.

Especially meaningful guys. Settings were positively strategic. Appreciated the reference of nature being like Amber’s church. And the feeling of gravitating to what feels right rather than what feels wrong is in a word, instinct; something animals never let go of. This is the biggest lesson to learn from them. Because they invest their entire life, looking for food, water, shelter and a mate to carry on their species, they have adapted a razor sharp grasp of their environment and a practical commitment to their survival. As humans, those needs are often made so easy for us, we have too much time to stray from their importance and so often the straying results in our leisure time committing acts that majorly disrupt the environment of other species. Amber’s approach to life reminds me of the Heartland episode entitled “A Fine Balance” specifically when the guide Altan, closes his eyes, let’s go of his reins and let’s nature take him where he needs to be.
