I've listened to this three times in a row and it's just hard to take. It's so convicting to be an American Christian, genuinely believing, genuinely hungry to live out faith, and then to hear this! How much I want my life to make sense in this way! How much the church in the US needs boldness and overflowing love!

its rare to find pastors who preach of love, living to please God and his gospel....infact Francis teaches he doent preach or scream .... this way its all about GOD not pleasing man

@Martin ramsbottom Oh sorry I miss understood. Remember God is one who saves! Just be faithful to God and His leading. If He wants you to reach 5, then reach 5. The more you are faithful the more He can use you to impact the lives around you for Jesus. "He who is faithful in little, will also be faithful in much" (John 16:10). Many Biblical teachers have materials in reaching the Muslims for Christ. (desiringgod.org) Jesus told us to make disciples (Matthew 28), and the 12 disciples lived with Jesus 3 years. Meaning that you are training someone and walking with them in the hard things and easy things of life. Praying that God will direct you brother and guild you.

It's coming, missions need to be started in the US. We are ignorant of persecution and rejection because of our faith.

Amen! Perfect timing and confirmation to the direction my household has been told to go. So grateful for this Man of God.

God is so Awesome, we do not even know how good we have it here in the states.

As I listen to this message, I can't breathe. I feel so much shame for the time I have wasted but don't know how to change my life. Jesus please change us so we are able to live sold out for You.

😭This message has really been an eye opener for me,i cant believe what some of us reduced the gospel to..may the Lord alone through his spirt change our hearts n make us more like him..be blessed Francis Chan..may God keep using u

At so many points in this I felt moved to tears. Oh my gosh, some people's testimonies are so incredible. All glory to God. Praise Jesus for the good news of the gospel and that He's the winner at the end of this all. Also, thank God for the honesty and sincerity that is Francis Chan.

Thank God for a simple down to earth man in Christ, whom is telling and preaching the Truth like Jesus would!!! Love you Francis, for saving me from Hell, wich way I was going. But hearing your hard and honest words did make me re-think all... Thank You, Jesus and bless this man even more than you already did. Wish I could be there, because the church in the Netherlands is dieying and already death in most places. If 80% is really saved overhere, that would be miraculeus! They are vast a sleep here and looks like I cannot waske them up. God have mercy with the Dutch, in JC-Name! Francis, I love your fruits and envey you! Be blessed!

So Convicting... "to serve Jesus, not just to attend a Service" I only pray that I can work towards a Christ centered life

I just love Francis's way of giving sermons so much. I love his perspective on things and stepping back and looking at the big picture of how much God loves us and how short our life is yet we should live our lives for the LORD, not man.

Interesting story about the Hindu woman that converted to Christianity. People try to paint that religion as a religion of peace and acceptance. They wanted her to drink lizards blood in order to convert back to Hinduism or be killed! I think it’s quite obvious that not all roads lead to God.

A car IS a gift!

I agree. A vehicle is not a gift. Nice thought...but not a gift. My husband has, s.l.o.w.l.y. learned of good gifts.... In our home gifts for the Mom/Wife should not have an electrical cord... No technology. No appliances, large or small. Gifts are things, like your wife says, things we do not need, or things I would not buy for myself; jewelry; perfume; spa visits. 😉

Im struggling to understand at what rate do we give it all away? When I think about the young rich ruler story I question my salvation, because I see all my clothes and entertainment, wondering if my lifestyle is according with Gods. I know we just have to have faith, but why did he tell the rich young ruler that he had to sell all his stuff in order to go to heaven? Isnt faith all it takes??

@Gamma, Jesus was getting at what the real problem was with the rich, young ruler. He wasn't teaching doctrine.

The rich man was a unbeliever .why are you preaching to believers it's you thats doubting your salvation?

He’s missing the fact that Jesus paid the price and said IT IS FINISHED - he is also making lots of jokes and he doesn’t get that it’s NOT ABOUT him and his inconsistency

Hm. I’m not sure about this although you’ve written this 2 years ago. I pray that the Lord has been leading you since with all sincerity in spirit. I only want to add this: I believe he is speaking on the same thing that all of 1 Peter 1 speak on. That passage actually agrees with you, but later in Chapter 1 (of 1 Peter, not the passage he was asked to speak on which was in Philippians) it says because of that- live like so on and so on. It’s wise to emphasize that it is finished, our debt has been paid. But alongside that we must begin to move forward in the renewal of our minds to pursue what God wants us to do here on earth as the Scripture says. Everytime the gospel is mentioned in the Apostles letters they mention the finished work first in the first few chapters, and then after they add their, “therefores” which means “so because of that, now do this” or “adhere to this” or “i exhort you in this”. That’s what this message was on. The therefore to the finished work you beautifully emphasized.
