Livestream Direct to Facebook from the Smart Controller using the DJI GO 4 app

This is another video in our series on Livestreaming from a DJI drone. Since Facebook switched over to the more secure RTMPS protocol, most DJI drones cannot livestream it directly. However, those that are compatible with the GO 4 App on the original Smart Controller can. This video shows how. The list of compatible drones is below.

Hi Jerry.....Nice video. You sure have been diving deep into these controllers. I thought the Sennheiser Pro Audio XS LAV USB-C mic sounded good to me. Cores that just might be my ears.... lol.....Have a Great Christmas......

Good ear Jim. Sitting on the editing room floor is an explanation that it wasn’t a fair apple-to-apple test. The Sennheiser was held in my hand and DJI Mic was attached to my shirt using the included magnet system. I felt I was going into too much detail. So, snip! :)
Awesome info! Thanks! Is there a way to do this without a computer? I am still trying to figure how to live stream when I’m on the go. I use my iPhone 13pro max as my display off my DJI Mavic Pro 2 and the DJI GO 4 app tethered to my controller by usb to lightning. (Nice to finally understand why it had stopped at least)!

You want to do the setup without a computer or go live without a computer? You can go live without the computer if you use the pre-scheduled method mentioned in this video. But if you want to livestream ad-hoc, there is way to make the phone browser “think” it’s a desktop computer. Great video. All setup and did the Create Custom Livestream and Start Livestreaming, but on top left hand corner of my Smart Controller (using DJI Go 4 app and DJI Mavic 2 Pro) it has the Connecting Icon and says Connecting...... and never starts. Any suggestions?

It’s usually a problem with the url/key not being exactly right. Have you tried the copy/paste method?

I watched your other video and did the copy paste function. That worked!! I was able to live feed but as to click start live feed in Facebook. Next time I tried, smart controller would start live feed but it wouldn’t go to Facebook. Do I have to start live feed in Facebook on desktop every time I want to go live with drone?

@@stevejett4643 I know Instagram requires a new key each time. But, I thought Facebook didn’t. You might try using the Restream method I used in the “Solved” video. Not required but it does provide for other benefits and it might solve your restart issue. Good luck!

I haven’t any problems with it. But, haven’t used it much. There is a setting that controls what is output. Did it ever work? Are you sure whatever you’re plugging it into is working properly? Maybe try a factory reset?

The encoder is on the smart controller. However, you don't need to install it. It's a feature of the DJI GO 4 app.

I’ve read TikTok requires 1000 followers to live stream so I am unable to test. Give it a try if you qualify and let us know. Thank you!

@@middleloopvideo brother good morning I am qualified but DON'T know, last I did try a KZread live stream from my drone, it worked but, I am mostly on tiktok and would like to learn this. In addition to all what I saw on your VIDEOS I DON'T understand why, KZread not pushing your VIDEOS. It's informative right down, the way you put it across, seriously, on anyone first try, they can do it. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING US ALL. GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. I wish I could help. The only time I’ve ever had a problem is when I didn’t copy/paste. Even when it looked right. Copy/paste is what fixed it.

You kind of skipped a bit: you said “with the remote connected to the internet” but you didn’t say how? Presumably this means you have to be in wifi range or can you use personal hotspots. It’s kind of a major step.

Sorry. Yes Wi-Fi. And yes, a hotspot if local Wi-Fi isn’t available. Check out our other two live streaming videos. I’m pretty sure we mention it in one, if not both of those. I remember doing a disclaimer about data rates may apply. Best of luck!
