The Economist wrote an excellent article about this very topic last month. With the latest promotions, almost half the Prem is now US owned. They will turn it into an NFL franchise style league. No links to the club's roots, no promotions/relegations and a "fan experience" approach that's got little to do with football. Already major Prem games are suffering with "tourist fans" attending games in large numbers, who don't know the club, the songs, the history, so the soul gets drained out of the club.. I don't know how we stop it, but it'll happen if fans don't stand up and say NO!!!

They might want it but they wanted a European super league as well, until the fans ( all fans) let them know what they thought of that idea.

To be honest, he's bang on right.... they'll always look for change and to earn more money. The only way is making this global now. Never have enough money do they. I think the game started dying a few years ago when the money started to get pumped in, then VAR... it's not the same now.... it's not our Beautiful game anymore. They've wrecked it - and it seems there' s absolutely nothing we can do about it. Players wages, transfer fees...seeing these kids driving Lambos... come on, that's not right. Is it!?

I think grown men running after a ball shows they have a similar intellect and intelligence to my dog. There is no other subject that has more shite talked about it than football. They're still talking shite on tv about Saturday's match until at least Wednesday, Thursday they switch to talking shite about the coming Saturday's match!

ask Wrexham fans about American owners. Liverpool are where they are now because of fans on the kop for 100 years+ and because of Shankly, Keegan, Dalglish, Gerrard, Klopp and because of their worldwide fanbase etc. etc etc

Kids these days dont support their local Football clubs. They just want to wear Man City, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool Shirts. They won't care about the history of their home town clubs. When we the older generation die so will the loyalty to the smaller clubs and the game in general. Future fans will be TV based fans.

When I was at school in the eatly 80s there were kids who claimed to be passionate lifelong Liverpool fans despite the fact they had never been there nor had any connection with Livetpo and could not point to it on a map.

This has always been a thing. Remember the days after they won the EPL title of seeing Blackburn shirts on blokes in the street, and those shirts being sold prominently in the high street sports shops like JD? In my local city of Leicester you couldn't move for Rovers shirts in the high street chain sports shops! They were more prominent than UTD, Liverpool or Leicester City shirts... 😮Try finding anyone outside of Blackburn wearing their kit now, or getting a Blackburn shirt in Leicester or Bristol etc etc. You won't, and you can't. Glory hunting plastic fans have always been a thing. Always will be too. If Man City lost their dodgy oil money and went back to being the nothing club they once were you wouldn't see half the amount of City fans you currently do.

Everyone on here who says the game is finished and the game has changed etc etc. Can do one. I can go to a game now and not get stabbed or bicycle chained by a hooligan. I can go to a stadium now and not get caged in like an animal and I can take my kids safely and securely. The stadiums have class facilities now. I like football how it is now. Accessible from everywhere on any device, any game in the world. The game has changed just like everything else in this world. It’s called progress
