Scary thing is city didn't have KDB for majority of the season. Saw the glimpse of it during 2nd leg vs Spurs. The guy was absolutely insane. Would be exciting to see him back again without any injuries.

An example of that is tottenham. They lost 13 games (most of any other top 6 club) and still finished 4th because they managed to win alot more games instead of drawing them

Cant argue with science this year. Stone's goal line clearance.. 2 pts. Agueros goal at Burnley.. 2 more pts. Maherz penalty miss was not by mm. He bottled that. Liverpools wins at home to Tot and Eve were also flukey, to be sure. Keita penalty shouts uncalled... lol. In the end, City won. Hats off. They are machines of winning consistency. But it was as close as it has *ever* been this year. The data doesnt lie.

As a Liverpool fan. full credit to City. They pushed us to be better all season and we kept them honest to the end. The standard of football in the prem is inspiring - look at the european finalists - and yet we both pulled off historic points tallies. Having lost one game this season, we didn't deserve to lose. But City did deserve their win. Buckle up for next season though.

I am a Liverpool fan so there will be a bit of bias here, but when Liverpool literally have the 3rd highest points ever in the premier league only beaten by the team that won the league, are the seven draws that inexcusable? Yes they should've won them but by that logic City should have 38 wins. I can only be proud of Liverpools season, and it maybe because people seem to hate Liverpool and their fans especially (which I do find interesting, do we come off as pretentious? I'm only young so I haven't experienced much of the hate myself) but I'm still getting my head around the idea of Liverpool being bottle jobs.

We all should be proud for this team friend, let's be honest , we knew we were up for a competition from the start, but noone could have possibly predict that. outcome. Like the boss said, "And we didn't loose it here or there" The goal was to get as many points as possible , "and if that is enough, perfect" Unfortunately it wasn't but we can't do nothing about it except moving on to next season. Regardless , city made 14 wins in a row since January, so if anything , we didn't bottle it . Brace for the sixth🔴🔴

Liverpool have been excellent and City had to set a new record to win the league. Most points by a retaining team. At Christmas City were looking more like early 90's points so to finish with 98 is amazing. Against any other team Liverpool would be champions with 97 points but City are a bit special.

Oxlade-Chamberlain will help with eh creative & goals in midfield. But 1 other signing is a must, Ziyech has a £25m release clause in his Ajax contract reportedly. But I'd love to see Jadon Sancho arrive & play as an attacking central midfielder with a versatile wide forward arriving too to help with competition/options in attack

Yes man, imo Depay and Ziyech would be perfect for them. Ziyech can play on the wing and in the midfield and he’s incredibly creative. Depay could play up front and on the wing for them. They should keep Origi as well. Maybe another LB incase Robertson gets injured

The difference is simple. The bench/squad players. City have sane, mahrez, jesus,gundogan Liverpool have shaqiri, origi, sturridge(dead) lallana(dead) Ox(full season out) keita(in and out injured). All we liverpool lack is quality on the bench that matches the players on the pitch like city have.

With 100 + points and 98 this season, City couldn't make it to UCL final. LFC with 97 points couldn't win EPL. I believe no one can explain why these things happen. Like Tony Adams know for sure what Michael Edwards talked about with Kenny. LFC play a different approach than City, and definitely up-coming transfers will have nothing to do with any other team, which is should be like that. Appreciation to the max to LFC! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 YNWA

The head to head vs city is where we lost it. If we’d held onto a draw at the etihad like the managed at Anfield it would have been so different. But I’m incredibly proud to be a red and this year we became to best team to not win the title. It’s only a matter of time!! YNWA

Well spare a thought for banter united...

IMO we (LFC) have arguably an equal starting 11 to City, but we don’t have their quality on the bench, so we need to improve the bench. Decent cover for left back, creative midfielder and a natural finisher up front. For me just 3 of those players to tweak this amazing squad. YNWA

Pool played great for sure, a hell of a team..they did get extrodinaryly lucky in lots of games also..Newcastle dive, spurs/everton etc..we'll see next year, maybe they might need 99 points.

Tony Adams says Liverpool were playing a 4-4-3....so that's how they did so well, they had one more player on the pitch !

Tony Adams is correct. City have the better squad and over a season that has been the difference. Nice if Liverpool win CL though (but better if Arsenal win EL !)

I think it came down to the managers.... Liverpool 7pts clear in jan and couldnt seem to handle leading.. City go in front in March and never look back and from that point on liverpool never drop a point either.. Seems like liverpool preferred chasing then leading.

Liverpool almost were 19 mm from going invincible, and didnt win it 😧 unreal. Should be interesting, especially what will be the motivation level for man city players going forwards, i think think that could also play factor as well

Liverpool lost the title at end of January/beginning February when City lost to Newcastle, while they drew vs Leicester at home and West Ham away. That was a key moment when City turned it around and never let it go after that. Liverpool were punished for missing a chance to extend their lead. City went on a 14 game winning streak starting with the following game vs Arsenal. A win & loss is better than 2 draws. Both City and Liverpool will improve next season. Ince makes a good point. As long as Pep is at City it will be difficult for anyone else to win the title because he will have his players focus on the EPL. He won't let the CL distract him or his players, no matter what pressure anyone puts on him to win the CL.

Liverpool: we want the epl, city no. Man city: we want the quadruple, Heung min son: No.

Incredible season from lfc. now go on and bring home that 6th EC home. I do agree with paul ince here though we've been so unlucky that way with pep is in the prem or else we'd of stormed it and while he is man city and with the money they have at disposal and the players they will have next season also they will win the league each season until he goes. all we can do is keep staying with them until he does and then we will probs win it. Ill be finally glad hopefully to see the back of some deadwood at lfc also its been a long time coming. lallana, sturridge, mignolet, lovren, moreno etc it would be amazing to see them finally leave and replaced with top quality. its been 2 seasons to far for them players ynwa!

If we're banned from UCL for next season, it means we'll be focusing on the league for the whole year. That's extremely favorable for us in terms of a three-peat. If we do not get banned, then yea I'd pin LFC as favorites.

stormzy aoe Chelsea are clearly more consistent, they’ve accumulated more points over 38 games than Spurs.

Klopp has taken us from being in the top 15 to being in the top 5 teams in Europe. Unless drastic changes are made by other clubs only man city,barca,real madrid and juventus can hope to challenge us over the next 3-5 years. And the frightening thing for other clubs is that klopp doesn't need to recruit special or niche players to improve his team.he is taking players that the very top clubs aren't looking at and raising there game to unthinkable levels.

The lost started during return game with mancity when klop was 7 points clear and decided to play devensive knowing mancity will come all out to reduce a 9 points gape.....thats was a very strange move by klop....that was the game to kill the title race but we let it go......its just so unbareble pain of the season.....this was ours.....hope we can do it next year.....

If Liverpool win the Champions league then i think they have had a better season than City

Gooner here. Nuff respect to Michael Owen and fabulous player and such a good pundit. As for Liverpool utmost respect. They set the standard for me for hunger and winning mentality. Take away the big money in football and your left with heart, look over the hears at Liverpool for that not Man City with all respect to City.

Well done Owen. First time I've seen someone disagree with a point of view put forward by the host a a tv show or football interviewer. Nice to see a footballer woth his own opinion. Third highest points total ever. Just bad luck im afraid. Should have won it. Took their foot off the gas at crucial times. Could be a different story next year. Yes we do have depth, but people should realize we played with a CAM as LB nearly the entire season (Mendy provides alot more in attack). We played most of the season without our top CAM (chance creator) in KDB, lost Fernandinho for many games (lost to Palace and Leicester consecutively when Fernandinho first got injured). Lost Kompany (our 2nd best CB and best leader) for many games. Those are 4 starters basically that we still did well without.

The issue between Salah and Mani at the beginning of the season of which one should get the golden boot..

A kick of s ball in it , nothing more, nothing less . Went from going 10 points ahead when we lost to City, to drawing 2 on the bounce . That was the period that cost us . Still tremendous effort all round. Roll on Madrid 😬

I seem to recall Liverpool losing at Man City but the game would have been a draw if VAR was used and, with that point and Man city only getting one point instead of three, then they would be champions. They are all talking as if Liverpool can't win the league whereas either team could have won and will be the same next year!
