Liver Function Test and Short Term Goals

Boy, you can tell I don’t really like being told what to eat!!! The nutritionist was super sweet. I think when so much is out of your control like it is with cancer, you don’t appreciate being told what to eat by someone who hasn’t walked in your shoes.

Hey Shannon you have to eat. I have the same as you at stage four and I have the same issues with ulcers, a striped throat that hurts every-time I eat and a tongue that is numb and so I can't taste much but I made a choice to eat regardless of what it tastes like because the energy gained from food can be used to help fight the tumor, help recovery after chemo and give you energy to carry on every day life. I still have my stoma after six months and will have it till after the covid-19 is gone because hospitals have cancelled all elective surgeries and food can go right through you as you mention so I still have to watch what I eat and I love salads but fibre is not good for my stoma so I am eating lots of carbs, fat and protein, macros and supplementing with B12 and vitamin C. which is making me feel good. Since doing this I have put on 5kg with two more sessions to go before I stop and we make plans to deal with the liver tumor(s). So please eat :-) it will give you and your body energy to fight. :-)

Dear lady...you have such a wit. We lost my husband's father last winter. He fought the good fight for 10 years, and was relatively healthy and well till his last 3 days on Earth, and he planned everything. He went out the day before his wife did, though she died 25 years ago..he tried to achieve that goal. But for his funeral, he planned every hymn, every word, we pretty much only had to show up. It was the kindest thing he could have done and something every person should try to do, IMO. Hope you have good liver function tests every week, till the end of time.

Hello Shannon, you look beautiful and are so positive with your situation! I really love that you are giving other cancer patients and their relatives like me hope and positivity ❤ Stay strong! I am not a doctor either just a med student but dont worry so much about the liver function test. The liver is the organ which probably breaks down your chemo. You had a part resected so they just want to check if the liver is good after everything and is doing its work. My dad had kind of the same. The MS medication he took could harm the kidney. So they checked the kidney regularly. There was never something. It is probably nothing. So dont worry! My dad got special drinks before the chemo. I know if you dont like the taste because of the chemo, you will not take them. But maybe you like them. They have many calories and proteins etc. They might be nice and worth a try if you did not already tried them. I will pray for you! 😘

Hi Shannon thank you for the video and I I know your husband is right you do not have to worry about the liver function test it’s probably just standard see how your liver is reacting to the chemo I’m not really sure I’m not a doctor but I have my dad with the same cancer as yours very similar situations what you share it’s been happening with him also and as far as your diet my dad it is drinking red beet juice that my mom is keep juicing from the red Beets my mom juicing every other day for him and he has half a glass everyday and it seems like it’s helping him with his appetite
