Captain Morris (big orange striped cat) and I lived on my 32ft sailboat for 12 years. Not even close to the luxury yacht in this video. Still...... Loved every minute of it.... even the storms.

I found this story sort of a headshaker since HK was once so populated by 'Junks" that one could walk form junk to junk. There was a major social movement to rid the port of them that succeeded in the 60-70s. I certainly prefer the classic junk to a sea of fiberglass.

I agree junks are fantastic. If only the hull were fiberglass (for easy maintenance) I would think it would be ideal. China seems to be all about, get rid of it altogether :-/

Monthly cost is complete BS rip off! You could have a 30 Million dollar home for less than half of that for utilities and taxes combined!

How about living on a boat that doesn't cost an extra 24k/mo on top of what you already pay to this "club" to simply park your boat? Almost 600k for absolutely no services provided? HK sounds like hell on earth.

Plus side, you can go anywhere and expand your life, minus more work less conveniences. I prefer the first.

Wes. I had a large power cruiser years back. The major downside is the solitude without having to find crew when you want them. I have a much smaller one thatbonly requires two crew. Once under way, one person can handle here. Bigger is not better long term. You know yachts, could you have experienced what you have if you were on one of these? The majority of them are rented out to pay for them. I am happy with my significant downsize.

Terry Peake I'll only go monohull sailboat with a diesel engine at this point, 30-36 ft range, resilient and affordable out there, plus I'm partial to sailing, gonna get atleast a couple auto pilots out there next time! (maybe a windvane too) Ugh gotta get there first, soon enough!
