To my indian friends, it will not be the Americans make you rich, it is yourself make you rich. It is in your interest to make good relationships with the US. It is also in your interest to make a good relationship with China. Sooner or later, you will realize that focusing and solving your own countries problems is the only way to become a great power.

I see your point. However, with neighbors like China and Pakistan....India has conflict breathing down its neck 24/7. The fact that the British were brutal in the colonization is a bit irrelevant. Not to mention, India has gladly accepted the US's help to counter China, so it isn't helpful to impose a Western leftist "America is evil" worldview on India, because the Indians are gladly accepting the US's support to contain China.

If I was Taiwanese Chinese, I would join up with China pronto. The US doesnt look after its own people. John Mearsheimer has some important insights. His prophecies have been faulty, and he doesn't understand China, which is a trading not imperialist nation. He underestimates the decay of the West.

@@KittyKittyCat-vf8zd John Mearsheimer is a dumb imperialist. Let John Mearsheimer bring the US Army, with its war experiences with Iraq and Afghanistan, to fight China. He will find out whether these experiences are advantages or disadvantages. Alas, either John Mearsheimer isn't an American, or his brain is still in kindergarten because he has never heard of the New York Yankees and MLB Major League Baseball and considers the Yankees beating up a minor league club as a war experience, which Chinese have none and advantage America. Therefore, when one day the US military faces the Chinese in a war, Americans' pride and proud war experiences with Iraq and so on will only help the Chinese kill the Americans. Peace needs cheap energy, and war needs more cheap energy. Germany and Japan have none. Therefore, everyone must know who Hitler's energy source was. Germany and Japan are resource-poor countries and have nothing to fight wars. One only needs to look at the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. So, Putin's fight with the collective West today is much more difficult than Roosevelt's fight with Germany and Japan in WW2 because not only did the US make a tremendous amount of money selling weapons to Germany and Japan before WW2 and in the first half of WW2, but both Germany and Japan have no military-industrial complex to support their wars. The military-industrial complex or logistics department of both the Third Reich and Japanese militarism was the USA. In the later days of WWII, the US stopped supporting Germany and Japan. Germany and Japan had no logistics departments. Without a logistics department, Germany and Japan could only play with inventory munitions. The US military fought the German and Japanese armies with no logistics department. Taiwan is China's territory, and there is no need for Xi to act prematurely against the Taiwanese rebels. When Xi Jinping completed the formation of 6 aircraft carrier battle groups, the strength surpassed that of the US, Japan and Australia coalition forces. I think the Taiwanese rebels will surrender voluntarily if they have no backers. Taiwan will be governed by the central government in a peaceful manner.

Lol which country is silent?? Because l know a country that all they talk about is how much they will develop. Stop pointing fingers, that’s why we can’t get things done together. At this point the ppl will probably end up willing their governments to make changes. Politicians are too scared to lose power and aren’t making many of the tough choices, especially when the choices cause big money. Every time l watch something about Climate change I see a woman who is very abrasive, keep demanding money. I’m not sure if this is her, but it’s always a woman. This is no way to motivate people to jump on board, many people, especially older ppl don’t even believe in climate science.

Of course Russia gets t decide if they have NATO nuclear or non nuclear missiles on its border with Ukraine; or any other state. Jusr refer to the era of the Cuban missile crisis. The quid pro quo was missiles out of Turkey in return for missiles out of Cuba. Russia is big enough to decide these things. Hence a neutral Ukraine.

Ironic as it is, climate deniers are those who (without their knowledge) clamor for money for renewables. The incentives so far on renewables has been phenomenal, is unsustainable. Petroleum is most efficient. So sustainable. Solar panels may have become cheaper by 90%, but are very unsustainable environmentally. The amount of fossil fuel used in the manufacture of solar is mind-boggling. Unless a new source of energy becomes more sustainable than petroleum and efficient, more incentives on renewables will move us closer to disaster sooner. That’s what’s happened in the past decade. Erik’s elated that India heeds his advice. He likes that India invested in solar and green tech where new jobs are too. Yet money spent on solar has not returned the jobs Erik promises. In doing so, need to spend more on welfare now, a burden. It’s taken away money from research in renewables. It’s made us lose time too. Hence, it’s taken us closer to disaster sooner. Until such time as renewables new and better than petroleum are established, should pursue making petroleum more efficient (hybrid vehicles, not EVs), moving to public transport systems en masse, reducing unnecessary transport needs by building organized towns: well laid out 6-lane roads, green walkable footpaths and cycle paths, and where residential blocks are low rise or independent home type built around business and commercial centers evenly distributed across residential areas, just to give one an idea. A policy on family planning is a must too. Got to achieve a lid on further population growth. Otherwise, we are headed for disaster. Also, the idea of needing younger generations to pay for longer living older folk is a Ponzi scheme. Every time older folk become a majority, need more younger folk. Leads to continuing population growth. But the planet’s size is fixed. On a war footing, bring back the much lower temperatures in our cities and towns from old times. High temperatures negatively impact productivity, make travel hard, make studying all the more difficult, and lead to a lot of power usage for air conditioning. 35 years ago, Bangalore did not need air conditioning. Today ave summer temp is 36/37. On many days, see 38 or 39. We can bring back old time temp by increasing forest cover 10% annually (currently at 3 or 4% of total land area) over the next decade, insist on visibly substantial green trees in roads in towns that are coming up and proper planning of towns with multiple green recreation parks (spanning multiple cross roads at a stretch in either direction) every few km within a town. These don’t cost much. What will cost 100x more in future is installation of solar panels, installation of air conditioners for humans and computers, much lower productivity, much lower inclination for study, and much less for research and so on.

I largely agree to Mearsheimer's realist views, with the exception of whether US will fight China over Taiwan, and how big a deterrence that is for China's decision. My argument is with all due respect, the US will organize an international mission to fight China, most likely Japan together with a small bit of Korean/UK/Aus/Canada forces, but will try as much as possible not to engage in the direct conflict themselves. Note that such operation is very expensive and ineffective, esp against a powerful adversary like China at their doorstep. He mentioned the Taiwan strait is a big challenge for China to cross. The Pacific ocean and South China Sea is a much bigger challenge for these foreign powers to try to cross and counter China effectively. So basically Taiwan is on their own to fight the mighty China army... amen.

Bangladesh. fifth tier power: the rest of the world. Indian often throw a rocket or a missile into outer space in the hope of lifting its ranking. which is amusing for the rest of the world.

The US lost its eminent unipolar status because of Obama failures: (1) In 2012 during Obama's Presidency, China successfully infiltrated 17 Central & Eastern European countries with China-CEEC or 17 plus One annual Summits. (2) After Obama's declaration to leave Afghanistan by 31st December, 2014, China extended strategic access to Indian ocean through Pakistan’s illegally occupied territories of Baluchistan & Kashmir in August, 2015 through CPEC. (3) On the Pacific front, in 2012, China refused to vacate Philippines' Scarborough shoal island negating an agreement negotiated by Obama & Obama abandoned both the agreement & US Security Treaty Partner Philippines. (4) That encouraged China to stealthily occupy Spratly Islands in April, 2015 to get control of strategic Indo-Pacific oceanic passage - both the strategic ocean passages acquired by China in 2015 during Obama-tenure. (5) Instead of demanding China's withdrawal, Xi Jinping was honored with welcome visit to White House where on Sept 25, 2015 he promised not to militarize illegally annexed Spratly Islands! Xi then militarized them within 2 yrs. (6) Obama even called for formation of G2 with China. (7) Seeing poor caliber of Obama leadership, China then increased nuclear-missile capability of N. Korea to threaten US mainland converting it into successful Cuba of 1962. (8) Obama failed in not enforcing UNSC Chapter VII Resolutions against Pakistan following 2008 Mumbai terror attacks in which terrorists were directed from Pakistan to kill westerners & Jews. (9) Obama failed again in 2011, for not punishing Pakistani generals for hiding OBL near their military academy. (10) Instead Dr. Afridi who helped US locate OBL was jailed by Pakistan. (11) Poor performance by Obama was also seen in badly negotiated Iranian nuclear deal which delinked its missile program, gave cheating time of 24 days before inspection while releasing billions of frozen assets without Iranian commitment of not exporting militancy in neighboring countries. (12) Obama even gave to China in 2012 giving China control of America's second-largest strategic container port, the Long Beach port in California & got un-ceremonial G20 reception in China as return where he had to exit from rear door of Air Force One on his own without red carpet reception of the front door. (13) During Obama’s presidency US dropped 20,000 bombs on Muslim countries -highest in any Presidency alienating Muslim world. (14) In fact, it could be Obama’s insulting arrogant comments & sabotaging Minsk Agreement that made Putin prepare himself to launch current Ukraine invasion in 2022. Instead of accepting genuine Russian concerns about Crimea, Barack Obama on March 25,2014 putting Western sanctions arrogantly called Russia a regional power that is threatening some of its immediate neighbors, not out of strength but out of weakness. History will rate Obama as the most failed US president who caused maximum harm to the US. Biden has completed the remaining task by precipitating Ukraine War instead of prioritizing & confronting upfront Chinese challenge.
