Enjoy it immensely, I saw him Feb 23rd in Los Angeles, he was mind blowing. He did an acoustic set first, and an all electric set second.

Capt'n Dan! I recently turned 70! (The Big Deal Birthday for me was 65. That just felt different)) I enjoy a pretty wide range of guitars. That said, I also recently acquired an 8 string Multi-Scale Fan Fret Headless Electric. Not very long ago I would have laughed if someone would have suggested that I would be playing one. It has almost replaced my need to switch from a "standard" guitar to a "baritone" guitar..... it is so much more versatile than I could have ever imagined, and not any more difficult to play after a very short time of acclimation .... which really shocked me. It has become the first guitar that I now grab...and really shines with my newer dive into Ambient Guitar.
Thank you so much for answering my question, really helps ❤
"And I need you more than want you" maybe just about the best line ever written.
I really wanted to see you guys comparing the Princetons 65 and 68 Reissue. Most of the people don't have space and the ideal conditions to buy these super large and loud amps like Super Reverb or JCMs that you normally use in the show. The Princetons, AC15, Blues Jr, and others are the ones that we can have in an apartment or regular house. Thanks!
Sorry I missed this live, but D&M are really on a creative roll here, the ideas are just flowing today. Mostly crazy but in a good way. And still some real insights and useful info as usual.
Sad to hear the Prince of Polyester is gone! Saw him live twice, great shows. David Lindley's music will live on forever, as will his attire.
re: the Jimmy thing: Xotic EP boost does the thickening a treat. A veteran of the 70s pub rock scene I have befriended by buying his spare pedals in a downsize claims that the "sound" was gotten by running a Watkins Copycat with no tape in it, at least for him.
hey guys in regards to the zeppelin tone, I just designed a revision to the RAH for catalinbread which is a replication of zeppelins Royal Albert Hall tones! through his Hiwatt.
If Dan swapped the coat for a leather jacket and a pair of aviator shades he could pass for Rob Halford. Keeping the jaunty sailor cap would be a bonus. Little known fact - you can turn any song into a sea shanty just by replacing the first line with, "As I roved out from Liverpool shore".
Ray Cooper - percussionist extraordinaire.
Great show Leg Ends, my buckle has been truly swashed . Dan is going for the "Six months in a leaky boat look ! " Next week Mick needs to be Captian Rum to keep up with the Nautical theme " AAH YOU HAVE A WOMAN'S SHOW M' LORD I'L WAGER THIS SHOW HASN'T HAD ( insert gag ) ooh er misses . PEACE and LOVE to EVERYONE.😃😃😃
the classic is 'chambered'. i have a quarter pounder in the bridge on one of my strats. i call it the old 'thumb in the eye.'

fish joke- what's the difference between meat and fish? if you beat your fish it will die.
I saw Eric Johnson at a club near my apartment in Austin in1973 The next day the whole band same in to a music store near by where I was having a top brace re-glued. Eric & I looked at each other but I was too shy too speak. I had walked to the club, paid the cover charge & sat on a bar stool (eating and drinking nothing) about 25' from them. From that height I had an unobstructed view and was dumb struck but left without saying a word when they were through with essentially all the material from the Electromagnets release. I have a CD of it now. The guy who told me about them couldn't have described them if he'd tried. Those tunes came back to me when I played that CD some decades later.
In the 70s loads of Rock stars started wearing captains hats, I never understood it.
Stand out gig for me, purely because it was a bizarre last minute ask, doing an ambient set at a yoga class for the studio I used to go to... Had to ignore the voices in my head constantly saying to engage the fuzz factory 😂
I am so on that cruise if it happens!
Love you guys. Thanks.
@57 minutes 15 seconds for the wet dry guy: I know I've dropped this in the comments before but mic your amp with dry effects only and send the xlr through the Cusack Pedal Cracker (one loop non-switcher with an xlr in and out) and put your wet effects in the loop. I do it when I am the only polyphonic instrument and it is MAGIC and simple :)
I think the Collings finish is called Acid Wash Quilt.
Yes, if variables are minimize so are the possible results - whether positive or negative.
There is some Beryllium action in a vacuum tube, something called a Getter. It grabs the stray molecules of gas that the vacuum pump is incapable of removing so that the valve can work without chemical change.
Wait until you turn 60. That shit gets real. I got my Senior Citizen’s card in the mail. That was a slap in the face (my nads are no longer relevant).
Rik Mayall references make me love this channel that much more. Rick: "We never clean the toilet, Neil! That's what being a student is all about!"
Captain Bird's-eye is quite endearing, could have been worse imagin Captain Pugwash 🤣 thanks for the hard work 👍 👏
Well, I'd have to say the best looking (and probably functioning) guitar I've ever seen is the one I'm having made as we speak. My aspirations may prove to have outstripped the result on this first prototype.
Gotta be "Dream Brother." When I had a couple years' run of solo gigs, I used to end most sets with a version of "Dream Brother" where I kept a delay/looper right on the edge of self-oscillation the whole time, so it started very quiet and was nearly exploding by the end, and I'd sing the final verse without playing, just voice against the fallout cloud of delay. It was one of maybe 3 things that worked every single time, for any audience.
Thanks lads for the upload. I can’t decide which vid I’d like you guys to upload. All sound awesome. But I must admit I love Danish Pete a great deal, so Capt’ and Pete.
Hadn't laughed at a KZread video like this in ages 🤣🤣🤣
I considered the Stratocaster superior to the Telecaster from the late 60s to the late 90s. I had a Mexican Fender Tele in the mid 90s which underwhelmed me. In 1999 I got a G&LASAT and a 40th Anniversary Fender Strat a week later. After my 1978 Ibanez they are my second and third oldest remaining guitars - and both are still "whelming" me just fine.
Even When an "A" to "B" comparison is made , today's "A" is not the same as yesterday's.
Great video as usual...I'd love to see these guys do an episode in the future where they're forcing themselves to play on offset/not your-normal guitars like a Gibson explorer, or Hallmark/Mosrite etc. It'd just be interesting to see their reactions. It sucks I'm too poor to visit UK because I buy too much gear... I don't live in the UK to meet these guys in my lifetime, it'd be so cool to be in the studio even if it's not recorded.
I will someday be able to join weekly again with God as witness
The effects loop in my BC-60 allow me to vary the mix of preamp signal with the pedals.
I missed the live airing...all I can say is Dan looks like Sean Connery from the Hunt for red October ...fitting considering your holding red...
1:24:00 "I want my chips crisp, und light braun."
I 'd like to hear Danish Pete demo those three pedals back to back to back. And , by the way, having written that, I now long for an orange Danish - not sure how a purple one would taste.
Re the LP Classic vs Standard thing - I thought another basic difference was that the maple top wasn't figured / striped (but binding etc still present like a Standard) > but turns out I was thinking of the Epiphone versions (particularly the current ones). I can't get my head around whether the Gibsons also follow this pattern.
Thanks for another entertaining Q&A lads. Perhaps you could surprise us viewers and theme your dress code more often just for kicks. Andertons take over gets my vote for Fridays release this week lads. Cheers👍
Lol folks were mad you didn’t talk about Kempers and things on the “Make noise without an amp” episode? Lol How interesting would that video be? “Oi, there’s a thing called a modeling amp and it’s not a real amp. Plug your guitar into it and sound like a plug in. “ short video.
Turning 40 was like falling off a log. One of the easiest things I’ve ever done. Dealing with the emotional aftermath, on the other hand….
Look, I'm just saying now that I've seen captain Dan, I don't think i ever want to go without
Have Seymour Duncan quarter pound jazzmaster pickups they sound ace, have the strat one in the neck of my strat too, for me they just sing 👌
When I lived in the UK, I was a linesman for Southern Electric based in Winchester. No prizes for guessing my take on the song when Glen Campbell came over the radio 😄

Tone Afloat!
Scary gigs, are almost always down to the nature of the people in the area in my experience, which is often a direct reflection of the conditions of the town/city. Mentioning no names, there are towns/cities across the UK you’d know were going to be amazing, and others you’d be worried for your safety. A few of the scary ones I kept going back to for a while, for the practise. After an almost violent incident with a toothless Neanderthal in Wakefield Yorkshire, I decided, it just wasn’t worth it.
32:22 On the subject of motivation, outside of sheer obsession, I find that hating my day job is great motivation to play guitar. Just find a job that will overwork you and not pay worth a crap. 😂😊❤
Markus king is touring the uk, any chance of getting him on the show leg ends? Love everything you do 🤘🏽
Capt'n and DP please!
@TPS> Have you done any videos on changing a 1950's Gibson Les Paul Standard model that has the up to date wiring, instead to change that to the old 1950's Gibson Les Paul Standard wiring? There are so many videos on the tube & I'm not sure which one I should trust. So that I don't ruin my brand new Les Paul
Need to head Dan do Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald
Too funny - Rosie loves to jump up on Dan's lap but wanted NOTHING to do with Captain Birdseye!

Kd Lang did a good version of hallelujah.
I hate boats, I’m not good at sea, but MAN, sign me up for a TPS cruise haha.
To the Vibroverb guy: i made my 63RI into head and cab(s). Easier to carry, better to toneshape yr sound w the cab(s). Mine has 2x10 in separate pine cabs. Your 65 kinda SRV 1x15 could be the same. However, the 10" work really well in pine cabs. I wouldnt do that w a 15" speaker. That needs to be in a good ply one.. Btw. I kept the reverb tank intact. All in all height: 13". Pictures can be supplied if needed. Doesnt look much different from a classic Fender top w reverb. Mine is brownface..

Btw, for 2x10"s the perfect speakers are either the Eminence blue frame alnico or the GAsc64. They both nail it. The GA, although ceramic i consider the blue frame+. I have sound samples if needed..

Well...the captain birds eye gimmick as a distraction and Dan's lack of an explanation for his absence makes me even more sure of a business deal. Prolly PRS acquiring gig rig like i said last week...or an unmentionable personal issue...but I dont think mick would have invited the guessing if that were the case.
Just wait - life gets real good in your 60s - which are NOT, sadly but, happily behind me.
How’s it going?
