A wonderful race on a beautiful day in Sydney. Nicely captured on video, with knowledgeable commentary.
Superb coverage, as always. Perhaps I'm the only one who feels this way, but every year in the Hobart and the SOLAS the focus - about 95% of it - is on the 100 footers. Yes, they're impressive, but the closer racing tends to be in the mini-maxis (SOLAS) and TP52s (Hobart). While it's hard to improve on the coverage currently provided, I don't think that a few more minutes watching the boats other than the monsters would detract...
Excellent coverage, guys. Great pics and commentary. Well done.
Appreciate the coverage.
beautiful boat in a great racing area
Great coverage legends.
It looks like Law Connect has figured out how to sail the boat the way Comanche sails, lying over on the leeward chine. This reduces the wetted surface, and resistance. That has been the key to the success of Comanche.
Fantastic coverage, thanks fellas!
While GFS (Greenwich Flying Squadron) does still race dinghies, it has a strong keelboat fleets, with typically over 60 yachts participating in Twighlight races each week. In 2024 the club celebrates 100 years since formation.

I just tuned in, the top three have just cleared that point. Main does 'Law Connect' point significantly higher than 'Andoo' :0
1:32:10. That is a very funky looking sail. You'd think you could get a bit more grunt out of it for the same roghting moment with a shorter tack line and slack in the hakyard, no?
This is the dress rehearsal for the camera boats and helicopters for the Rolex Sydney to Hobart race. Fortunately, Peter the commentator will be ashore with a more experienced commentator to help carry the load, and no motor noise to talk over. That is really rough on his voice. But I guess that the boat with the commentators and camera mixer has to be close to the action so that the low powered camera and drone feeds don't break up. We still see a little of that in this broadcast. Hopefully, a younger person will step up to help Peter with these broadcasts. Don't get me wrong, I think that the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia is doing a great job putting this race up on the Web, and without the resources of a television studio.
What happened to wild Oats xi and black jack?
Who wound up with the corrected time win? I couldn't find the 2023 results posted yet.
No.WildOats XI this year ?
How much diesel for a day's sailing one of these?
Looks like Scallywag's engine is overheating!
'Scallywag is 15 years old ... she's not a teenager' ... 😂
Thats a daft map ….. the land is blue and the sea is green 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I wish Peter Shipway would learn how to pronounce Comanche. His mispronunciation spoils the telecast EVERY year.
