Yeah. I was a non-degree lighting operator and I encouraged a degree lighting person to work with me. He took my job and sucked at operation. He did theatre and everything was way to bright for a niteclub. Same goes for sound. If your not a musician or sell out to the crowd then by all means mix the vocals louder. Don't get me wrong. Andrew really does a fantastic job. But that is what it is. It sells.

I used my vocal delay slightly different but the same idea. we have an offboard M one tap delay, so I have the send of that always up, and the return always up. but the send mute is on a function switch, so I just hit the function switch (which lights up to tell you when it's on or off) it unmutes my send then just press it again after the word or two you want delayed and it mutes again. same idea just saves a vca.

If only pub bands would realise how important the words are.

Ah so this is the reason why when I saw Mark Ronson at The Love Box two years ago supporting Roxy Music I couldn't hear the musician. I am an trained studio engineer who would love to get into the sound reinforcement field and I would definably give a great mix to the audience and the band on stage not just vocals.
