@@anbutaagahu5776 That's not the issue. He can't even get into tournaments regularly because each country has a specific quota to athlete to represent their countries. Momota is ranked 7 in Japan. So even if he comes back with the best shape ever, he won't be able to join tournament. He had been playing well in his tournament in 2023 and have beat a lot of good players, too. I believe he can rise back if he is given the chance to, but he doesn't have that chance in any foreseeable future, and that's what forces him into retirement.

He may be ranked lowly in Japan but if I’m not wrong he’s won the last two all-Japan championships. It won’t feel good to be top ranked in Japan but still lose to this guy.

Too bad for Momota. Didn't have a chance to play his last match😢😢. I'm so sad. He won 2 matches, but the last match was canceled. The world is cruel to him.

its the quota for tournament that is forcing him to retire, not because he didn't play well.... he played really well in 2023... which makes it the worst thing to happen in badminton.

Momota was really the most entertaining to watch. I hope that I could see more international cup with Momota 😢
