Avesh Khan redeemed himself by scoring a useful cameo after conceding three boundaries in the final over of the first innings, with Sundar holding an end up. But with each passing ball, the Gill-led side was put in a precarious situation and with the pitch getting difficult to bat, it only got worse. India required 30 runs in the last three overs but had only a wicket left in the bank. Sundar tried his best but came second in the process.
Raza was deservingly named Player of the Match for his three-wicket haul, while Chatara supported with his three-fer. The rest of the bowlers picked up one wicket each just gives the impetus to the factor that it was just a complete team performance that gave Zimbabwe an 1-0 lead in the assignment, breaking a 12-match winning streak of two-time World T20 Champions.
Shubman Gill and Co. need to rectify what went wrong and can't let his side move into a game, taking the opposition for granted.
Sanju Samson has flown to Zimbabwe after taking a short break and is expected to be involved with the team from the third T20I.
