Rita is one of my favorites of all time

Just when I thought Rita couldn't be any more awesome

Rita Payes is the best.

I've been in love with Rita for a while. And now I found this recording. The singing and playing are wonderful, of course, and I must say, so is this arrangement. Bravo, Marti.

From Monk to Basie to Dylan and everything in between Rita sticks her trombone where no one else has and probably never will. Dig it! Her voice becomes more "whiskey" tempered as time moves on. Gotta love this woman. Nina has nothing on Rita.

What an apprenticeship Rita has embarked upon. So many brilliant groups and musicians she has worked with (and Marti is a particular high point, so innovative)! She has worked at such a pace too after SAJB, and just as intensely through her pregnancy and the first year of Juna's life. She deserves her year off to enjoy parenthood. But you can bet her creative spirit, fired up by these collaborations, will be plotting exciting new projects. I just hope she revisits Marti at some point. This was rich.

Following the by now established tradition of this great project ... true, honest, unpretentious, unaffected music. Bravo!

What a great trombone by Rita, and the sax and the trumpet are supporting her so nicely! This is something new, Bob Dylan in a jazz arrengement.

The horns are playing in harmony with Rita’s vocal! Very nice! one of the things I appreciate about her is that she’s listening to a lot of different music. She’s my favorite musician of all the SAJB alumni.

Yes her influences are soooo wide, her musical collaborations and adventures even wider. I know it annoys some who want just jazz-Rita, but I truly feel it creates a unique voice that enriches jazz-Rita. The fact that she is an accomplished composer of the highest calibre means her trombone solos (always refined from each performance to the next) have an increasing kick of satisfaction without getting stale. For all her adventuring I think jazz is in her veins. I see these little gigs she sneaks out to at night to get her fix, in jazz pubs and little outdoor clubs, even when heavily pregnant.

Dylan was the writer, Rita is the interpreter, and she rewrites it!

Listening this song over and over again. Great arrs, stunning vocals and trombonesolo from Rita! Great job from whole band!

I've just noticed the black armband Rita is wearing. I wonder if this is in memory of Toni Belenguer, her brilliant trombone tutor, who died barely 2 weeks earlier? Some of Rita's best work makes a fitting memorial.

It's a hair band. He usually always has one at his fingertips. Likewise, his teacher carries him deep in his heart. In fact, she said that for her, she hasn't left. Because every time he plays the trombone he is with her.

Esse saxofonista bem que podia ser mais criativo e menos atrapalhão a Rita canta e ele toca exatamente a mesma coisa ATRAPALHANDO a interpretação da Rita. Muito ruim. Estragaram bastante.
