The Oak Grove Folk Music Festival ... Sunday Morning Jam ...August 5, 2018 … Ken Horne sings this great song by The Reverend Lee Domann ….
WELL-KNOWN ATHEIST
The big one, it hit last Sunday morning
As I buttered up my second piece of toast.
My left arm went numb; pain shot across my chest;
The next thing that I knew I was a ghost.
But I’m happy running all the way to Heaven
Anticipatin’ seeing my departed friends.
Friends and neighbors, I’m here to tell you
You can’t believe not half of what I saw when I got in there.
There was a well-known atheist from Texas,
And a lead guitarist from a punk rock band,
A self-admitted woman-hating sexist,
And a revolutionary from Iran.
There was a Catholic and Protestant from Ireland,
Two Moonies, three ladies of the streets,
Oral Roberts and his son; there were fifteen Buddhist nuns.
There were seventeen Republicans and me.
Well, the first thing that I did was I found Saint Peter
And I said, “Pete, you wipe that smile right off your face.
Half the people in here are hypocrites . . . SINNERS …
And I do believe that I’m in the wrong place.”
Pete just shook his head, and he kept on smiling.
He said, “Some folks never see it till they’re dead.”
He said, “Hell boy, this is just the waiting room to Heaven.
There’s more inside; you ain’t seen nothing yet!”

Two Moonies; three ladies of the streets,
Oral Roberts and his son; there were fifteen Buddhist nuns.
There were thirty-seven Democrats and me.
He said, “Everyone you see here is your brother . . . and your sister.
Everyone, including you, has made mistakes.
Some folks found the truth where you weren’t even lookin’ for it,
And some never were that far off anyway.
Everyone you see here is God’s children
And I’m hoping what you see here don’t seem odd to you.
Don’t you ever underestimate forgiveness.
It’s only the universal love of God.”
