I think he just hit a bump that unsettled the car. He was in the braking zone which is in the middle of a right hand bend, so the rear of the car was light from the get go; the rear tires hitting a bump would certainly be enough to kick him sideways and once it went on him it was too late. Brutal, it looks like he did everything right and just got caught out by the unforgiving course.

I can't understand why people are saying this is a great track. The drivers of almost every type of car are hating it. Terrible surface, passing only possible on the bridge, cost a lot of teams way too much money. So many cautions, there was barely any racing. I would be surprised if they do it again next year without Nashville dropping some serious cash to make it work.

Take note, this is how you control exceeding track limits. This def slows the cars into and out of the turns but keeps them more aware that hitting a concrete barrier will ruin your day.

  • @__vx3

People constantly use this argument on street circuits and I can't understand why. The barriers aren't there for track limits, they're there because there's a building or something behind them. If you want to control track limits on road circuits install gravel traps and grass runoffs.

Very weird seeing two-way 'traffic' on a (kinda) race course. Why can't anyone design a decent street course? They're all too small and narrow. Belle Isle is pretty good, though, and the old killer track fashioned out of the Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland are the exception.
