I was hoping you'd mention something about coolers! I'm curious of how small of a cooler you could get away with! I just did a z690/13600k build last night with a ~$65 DeepCool AK620. It's a bit cumbersome to work around. I might have to take it out to get at the cpu ATX 12V or the first m2 slot in the future. I will tell you it works much better if you remove the plastic on the cold plate. Coming from an i5-2500, I was stressed about the substantial mounting apparatus and forgot to take it off! 😆

A friend of mine has a Windows 11 HP laptop and the clock keeps losing time, at random intervals. The battery is on the underside of the motherboard, and it is extremely involved. When she syncs it manually, it is fine for about an hour but then loses the time again (by up to a few hours sometimes) Any thoughts?

a liquid cooler on an i3 would be like building a double car garage to house your moped scooter - overkill.

Never under-estimate the consumer.

I'm a big fan of the Mugen 5. If it won't cool your CPU, you need a liquid cooler. Yes, the Noctua DH-15 and Dark Rock Pro 4 will run 3-5 degrees cooler, but if that is your margin it's time for liquid.

i have an i5 13600k with the mugen 5 and hits 100 degree on prime 95. why? i should reapply thermal paste and clean it again perhaps

You're wasting your time and money. Prime95 is not the reason you have a computer. Use it for doing something real. It likely will not have any problems.

The 13th gen K series processors, under full stress, ramp up to full voltage and heat output, while they ramp up to the highest turbo they can achieve. Even with the best of coolers, they still ramp up above 90C. If you run them with a Z board, you can potentially undervolt them to reduce heat output.
