We are all hopeful it will be so with the Obama presidency" It was that statement that caused me to feel embarrassed by the antics and incompetence of Donald Trump

Before winning the Electoral College Donald claimed the world was laughing at the US and he will make everyone respect us again. He kept saying it and still does. I have been traveling internationally since bush jr, when I would usually be mistaken for Canadian due to my high intelligence and northern accent. The ONLY positive experience relating to American politics was on a research trip in Kenya when Obama was nominated as the Democratic presidential candidate. I pity Americans who don’t travel outside their culture or country; our government keeps us in a dangerous bubble of ignorance and it takes work to be a decent, fully aware human.

Not voting at all is voting.. but for the wrong people or the wrong reason. Two choices..Democracy or dictatorship.... choose wisely. But for the country's sake please VOTE!!

As someone who once was planning on moving to the USA. Back then USA was a cultural mesh, but everything was rather chill and peaceful, 9/11 happened about 5-6 years later. After 9/11 everything seemed to start changing, globally. Fear or terrorism spread like a disease from the US to Europe and in Europe to my home country. Irrational thoughts started to sound more and more logical even though they had nothing to do with logic, only emotions, than then affected the logic. In my homeland the situation has developed since 2007 (?). Firstly, rascistic concepts started to appear in politics. Some people were amazed, what is happening. More and more far-right thinking appreared and whether we liked or not, the rhetorics and those rascistic concepts started to be more and more normal. And on political stage, no one really could tell, what the actual target of that kind of speech was, what did they want? They wanted to shut down borders from illegal immigrants and refugees, and that was pretty much everything. As the time went by, there has been more and more Christian religious concepts and the finance politics is even more far-right than before. We had our own "Republican Party" but that far-right, in which many Democrats etc. believed in, but were frustrated with the politics of that day and gave their vote to the far-right, have noticed "Republican Party" is more considerate in finance and economics than that far-right. Milton Friedman and all the big names of Republican politics and our own politics, have been thrown to trash and we have got a new rule based on: "Nothing to the poor, refugees, unemployed, those going to school, to veterans, old people etc. etc. etc." They are themselves sucking part of the money but directing it to big businesses which is pretty much killing our inner markets and causing inflation. Now, seeing Republicans in the state of turmoil and chaos, I do not recognize the God-fearing party anymore. It has become that far-right party that we have been witnessing in my country for over a decade. Blooming large and blaming others for their own mistakes, like it was their strategy, but I do believe they are "believers" who have no capability to self-reflection, self-criticism, irony etc. So what else is there, than making up statistics because universities are futile and statistics lie, unless they are self-made by the party, and blame other parties and people for their own mistakes. Sounds familiar? It does. And that has, in the end nothing to do with nationalism, religion, concerns over immigrants etc. It is about their own fears that they can not reflect and they themselves are making all their fears come true. In my country it has meant: "They fear terrorists, so they have become terrorists themselves". They do not fear themselves, but other people do, those who had no such fears before are now fearing the far-right...
