WHO ARE THESE GUYS? A brief profile of Forestella for the English speakers: ADDENDUM: they are NOT kpop!!! 1) They are a classical crossover group from S. Korea called Forestella (포레스텔라) 2) They were formed in 2017 through a 13-episode televised contest, called Phantom Singer, to find talent and form a classical crossover group. They are the second season winners. 3) Their names going left to right from the viewers perspective: Woorim Ko (고우림), 26 (youngest with that deep voice!) - Operatic Bass, and he was still a student when Forestella formed. Hyungho Kang (강형호), 32 - Tenor/Sopranist. Believe it or not he was a chemical engineer and has no professional training! He has a rock band called PITTA and he's a great fit for this group because he has an insane countertenor voice! Mingyu Cho (조민규), 29 - Operatic Tenor. He's the leader of the group and he was in graduate school when Forestella formed. Doohoon Bae (배두훈), 34 (oldest) - Musical actor with a baritenor range. 4) Like other classical crossover artists, they sing in many languages. Mostly Korean, Italian, English and Spanish, and one song with some Latin. 5) Unlike the US (and maybe some other English speaking countries judging by the comments!) Koreans are overachievers when it comes to foreign languages. Many of them are polyglots. Most of them learn at least a basic level of English as children, but it's a case of use it or lose it. There are private academies specifically for learning languages in Korea. Also, English is not the most common language they learn fluently. Japanese and Chinese would probably be ahead of English. 6) Having said that, the only one who is actually fluent in English is Mingyu Cho. Here's a performance that shows their capabilities. For classical music singers/student , most of songs were written in Italian, French ,Russian and German. And the heaven of musicians or singers now should be China or Japan ? Especially cross over music which is not much popular all over the world . For me if all of members of Forestella or BTS can speak English must be better (for me non - Korean fan) but not be necessary to waste time to do if they have to manage to do many things such as dance practice,rearrange or compose music, exercise for their strong singing organ. ..Sorry , I am not good English enough to explain all what I think.

just gonna say. freddie would give this performance a standing ovation. he's the type that would say (idk if he did) music has no language. that you can perform any song, turn it into to anything as long as it's fun.

I saw it live in February 2023. It is unimaginable!!! The whole show was!!! I believe I had my mouth hanging open the whole time, sitting on the edgr of my seat. I do not believe I've ever heard such beautiful harmony. And their interpretations of these songs is absolutely splendid, enchanting brilliance. As beautiful as they sound on social media, they are even more stunning in person.

I JUST happened to come across this group on TikTok and was blown away by their harmonization...... so I looked them up on KZread and seen they had covered Bohemian Rhapsody. Let me just say, I am 53 yrs old and really do not care for covers on BIG CLASSICS like this one. I mean, Dolly Parton TRYING to cover "Stairway to Heaven" ? BIG NO, and I Love Dolly. But THIS COVER RIGHT HERE...... OMG..... I was so blown away!!! I got chills and was brought to tears 💕 I just wish Freddy Mercury was here to hear this .... he would have LOVED IT!!!! Please explore more Forestella! They sang the Sound of Silence, Scarborough Fair, My Favorite Things (from the Sound of Music), Parla piu piano (the Godfather OST), Nella Fantasia (from the Mission), Time in a bottle (of Jim Croce but close to Fast & Furious OST version), Imagine Dragon's Sweet Dreams and Warriors, MJ's Heal the World, Smooth Criminal and Thriller, as more contemporary pop, Bad Romance (of Lady Gaga), Shape of you (of Ed Sheeran) in English/Spanish/isiZulu, Je suis malade in French, Despacito in Spanish, etc. The more you know the original, better you can enjoy their touch on the songs.
