Belarus Military Parade Commemorates 80th Anniversary of Liberation from Nazi Invaders
A military parade takes place in Belarus’ capital of Minsk to mark country’s Independence Day. The decision to celebrate Independence Day on 3 July was adopted in a nationwide referendum on 24 November 1996, with 88.18% of voters supporting the decision. In December of the same year, President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree to establish a public holiday - the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus (Republic Day).
