Clarifications & Further Explanations
At 8:20 I meant to say, “If this neuron receives ENOUGH of the RIGHT TYPE of NEUROTRANSMITTERS and the threshold is met, it will fire.”
At 9:46 I meant to say, “That electrical signal is going to tell this neuron to release the neurotransmitters which are going to be sent off to the next NEURON in the chain.”
10:30 Acetylcholine also plays a role in learning and memory.
You also need to know what happens when there is a surplus or a deficit of each type of neurotransmitter (10:32)
30:33 Procedural memory is processed by the cerebellum.
35:00 - The Variable Ratio schedule is the most resistant to extinction.
35:11 - A perfect wave may arrive whether the surfer is in the water or not. In other words, the surfer does not CAUSE the perfect wave to show up & and the reinforcement can come at any time. Another example of variable interval is a pop quiz. The behavior is studying, but your behavior of studying has no impact on whether the teacher gives a quiz or not (the reinforcement).
At 40:17 I am referring to a key term called RETINAL DISPARITY here.
43:34 You must know about ALL the parts of the brain. I just went over the different lobes in this video. Also, don't forget about language and the brain.
50:30 I meant to say, “WHEN AN INDIVIDUAL attempts to solves new problems THAT THEY have NEVER encountered before,” this is an example of fluid intelligence.
1:06:51 Note: There is a slight difference between the terms mentioned here. Bandura's Social Learning Theory includes Observational Learning (observing and imitating behavior), modeling (when an individual performs a behavior that serves as an example (a model)) & Vicarious Reinforcement (When an individual observes ANOTHER PERSON who is REINFORCED for doing a behavior; consequently, the original individual decides to whether or not to imitate that behavior based upon expected outcomes.)
1:11:45 “Term” #16 is Correlation does NOT imply causation!
1:17:47 Note: Confounding Variables apply to experiments AND the THIRD VARIABLE PROBLEM applies to correlational studies.
1:24:04 The purpose of random assignments is to make sure the control group and experimental group are as identical as possible SO THAT A COMPARISON CAN BE MADE BETWEEN THE TWO GROUPS. If the group make up and behavior is not similar, a comparison about the effectiveness of the treatment cannot be made.
1:35:06 A more comprehensive list of the different psychological approaches includes the biological, behavioral, cognitive, gestalt, humanistic, psychodynamic, sociocultural, evolutionary, positive psychology, & biopsychosocial perspectives.

Don't confuse "modeling" and with a "model." 3) Vicarious Reinforcement: When an individual observes ANOTHER PERSON who is REINFORCED for doing a behavior; consequently, the original individual decides to whether or not to imitate that behavior based upon expected outcomes. (The College Board will typically want you to talk about how the individual then MIMICS the behavior) 1:09:06 Make sure you mention that a Case Study is an "IN-DEPTH" study of one person or a small group. 1:11:17 Don't forget about the Correlation Coefficient (R-values) in regards to correlations. 1:11:45 “Term” #16 is Correlation does NOT imply causation! 1:17:47 Note: Confounding Variables apply to experiments AND the THIRD VARIABLE PROBLEM applies to correlational studies. If the Third Variable Problem shows up make sure you identify how it effects BOTH of the other variables.

This is a terrific review. However, with encoding failure, you mention the "presidents" on the back of various bills, including the $100 bill, which of course, includes everyone's favorite president, Benjamin Franklin. Also, cocktail party effect and your nervous system video were already addressed in the 100-51 video. Also-- hate to nitpick-- but you did say negative reinforcement a few times when you meant to say negative punishment.
Let’s go 2024

the closer the p value is to 0 the more statistically significant it is ? 1:32:48 i thought the closer it is to 1 or -1 ? or what is the name for that one that should be closer to those
@theschoolofireland
Ай бұрын
You’re mixing up p and r values. P-values less than .05 are statistically significant. Therefore, the closer to 0 the more statistically significant the p-value. R-values (the correlation coefficient) deal with correlations and show a strength of relationship between two variables. Negative r-values depict a negative correlation and positive r-values depict a positive correlation. A r-value of zero shows no correlation. R-values fall between -1 and +1. With r-values, the further the value is away from zero (in EITHER the negative or positive direction), the stronger the relationship.

10:30 Im not sure whether you wrote these slides yourself or got them from somewhere but the info in this slide is not great/wrong; acetylcholine is most notably involved in learning and memory which makes a lot of sense because too little leads to alzheimers (pretty sure that can be tested too) I can keep going but you get the idea. Just make sure to double check your info even if your audience is relatively small
