Nothing is for everyone but the EcoFlow Delta 2 replaced my DIY power system. For size and function portable units are well worth it for our family. Price and physical weight are convenient both inside and out. I would only suggest going up one size to EcoFlow Delta Max.

George, as a permanent fix, we placed all our tea, coffee, cups cutlery etc vertically on shelves then have a bottom hinged door that covers & holds them in place for travel, but drops down and stays down to access them and protect the counter top on site 👍 definitely worth considering

the overland crowd demands energy efficient 12vdc chest fridges, might wanna check them out. big ass battery doesn't hurt, but making sure everything that pulls from the battery is efficient(the disparity between brands is astounding) helps as well. for giggles, if that travel trailer happens to have a tow hitch, maybe make a box that slides in to it to house your little generator or something full time? could just be a trash can. always look forward to sunday.

Great vid as always. I went with a PVC tube and added foam strips to keep bottles from banging around or breaking and mounted to an ABS panel with an ABS footer. You could always make it fancy with the wood trim but for stable, safe transport PVC and ABS for the fun is my suggestion.

I've seen the DIY wine holders from PVC tube - they work well. Perhaps consider some natural material like metal, wood, etc. that is not plastic based however (it's killing our oceans and we like camping by the ocean : ).

On Command hooks, I recently installed the transparent mini hooks on 2 of my ukuleles to hold my shoulder straps (in lieu of drilling holes in my cute little music makers for strap pins). They are invisible as installed & have held fast to date. 👉Note I upgraded to the indoor/outdoor strips so the humidity in the van wouldn't loosen the strips. My brother works in IT for the County in which he resides in Wi. He said they routinely use Command hooks & they hold well. Another tried & true product to consider is museum putty (yes, actually used in museums). It holds objects on horizontal surfaces & like Command strips is single application use & is easily removed when needed leaving no residue.

You might want to take a look at the Anker portable power stations. They tick all your boxes & on sale run $699 - $899. Anker is a well trusted & innovative company with an excellent record. I bought mine during Prime Days in 2023 for almost half the msrp (1800 watt output, 1229Wh capacity, 1,500 watt inverter). Newer models with more features now available. I liked the 5-Yr Full-Device Warranty, LiFePO4 battery (3000 charge cycles AC/DC/Solar), 42.1 lbs, compact (18.22"L x 9.34"W x 11.34"H), Smart temperature control system, & 120v. recharges to 80% in 1 hour with HyperFlash technology.

I appreciate this discussion. I am trying to help a homeless man who lives in his Ford Econoline van with his sweet dog (actually works at a Safeway but doesn’t make enough for rent). We can’t find anyone to help put a rooftop 12V AC in, so we are looking at a 12V portable AC and a lithium battery. Not sure what the battery specs need to be. It is so he can keep his dog in there while he is at work.

Hi George, Happy Sunday! I love your dogs. Female Mini Schnauzer and now a little male Yorkie. Both wonderful dog breeds! They look so sweet and happy. Waiting for their Sunday Walkies with Dad. Cute!!! Great idea with that cooler and inverter. Everyone needs something portable for road trips and back up food storage. I think this is a great alternative to pricey Dometic. Dometic and even Iceco both have the reliable and efficient Secop (aka Danfoss) compressor made in Sweden, but we all know that China is making everything else in those pricey coolers. So no reason to remain so pricey. The Eco Flow Delta Max Lithium battery is around $5.88 per Watt Hour vs Goal Zero Yeti at $11 per WH. Yeti is still using AGM batteries or poor quality Lithium. The one thing the Yeti does have that is missing on the Delta 2, is the front interface with 12V plug, AC plugs, and other connection points besides the USB sockets. That is desirable, esp the round 12V cigarette lighter type socket. I also don't see the round terminal type socket where you plug in a solar panel for recharging. Hmmm. Needs to be added on for expanded functionality. 17:22 - You read my mind, George. I was just going to suggest that you put that cooler inside the dining bench with a slide out or top access, and you beat me to it, ha ha. Your analysis of the weight on the slide and use when closed is brilliant. It never occurred to me. You think of everything which is so reassuring. Wine Rack - The bottle necks would have to face sink in order to be accessible when slide out is pulled in. No 80/20 because you have too little space for thickness. Plywood is thinner. Shelves will be the bracing. I would make a simple wood box, with foam padding inside, so bottles stay in position without sideways rolling. Flat, narrow box, like a spice cabinet with shelves, but instead of a large panel access frontally, you access from the side. Front narrow face is hinged and swings open when you want a bottle, or stays latched in place. Openings in front face are only large enough to accommodate bottle necks so bottle cannot be removed when latched. Both Burgundy and Bourgogne bottle shapes must be accommodated in that neck hole opening, as well as some German whites with long necks. Essentially, diameter of wine bottle body should be checked on various bottles and if roughly the same, then neck opening will be the same for all (neck is dead center of that diameter). There. That is what I have. With regard to the Command Hooks, you may want to stick some Velcro tabs to the wall and hanging objects at the bottom part so they don't sway and fall off the wall or hang crooked. This helps with banging too, when you go on bumpy roads. I hang ceramics on the wall and don't want the clatter noise and shock damage to my wall objects. For pictures, a couple of cabinet noise dampening plastic stick-on buttons helps with grip, or stick rubber strips on the back of things.

Setpoint refrige/freezer I have two AJ40 and a TC20 for over two years and they are nearly silent and very efficient. I recently added the PG216WH power brick (lithium ion) It serves as UPS for the TC20 when the motor not running the AJ40 goes to a constant hot DC car plug in the Jeep. They also have AC charging. VERY affordable and WORK. Wine rack, linear wooden dowels, light weight. "U" shape solid wood or veneer front.

So glad you are testing the Loch dishwasher. It's on my list, too. But since it comes all the way from Scotland, it would be a bummer if it didn't clean well enough. 950w and supposedly only 15 min., that would be very manageable. If you like it, I will feel much better about ordering mine.

Why don’t you make a sliding shelf (either on glides or skids that claps to back wall for in transit. When you’re stationary, you can unclasp it and slide it out a bit to help access stuff in the back. (Also, NANO TAPE). I made a very basic flashlight holder with a scrap 4 inch piece of 2x4. I attached it to wall using nano tape. I also have ikea plastic bins nano taped to countertops. They don’t move.

Thanks. I looked up Nano tape (double sided) and it appears to be good stuff. Alien Tape is a brand name nano tape. Note both warn: Not Suitable for Dry-Painted Surfaces. It's mostly for smooth glass, metal plastic surfaces. Gorilla tape (a different product but again, double sided) is for both smooth and rough surfaces.

I'm sure someone already used a portable powerband to power a van, charging it with two options. While driving with a second alternator and a 30A RV shore power. Well you can also add solar. Can't get better than that. In the case of Ecoflow, they came with 800W alternator charger which the technical part is easy, even for an idiot like me. Just connect it to the battery and run the cable with the charging box where you need it. For me, the difficulty is the aesthetics. After connecting to the battery, you may need to penetrate the engine firewall and run the cable under the carpet and door sealant rubber thingys. Check it out. I'm sure is better and cheaper than installing 1200Wh battery bank with Battleborn batteries and the blue brand solar equipment.

Portable dishwashers for a couple of plates, a couple of cups and a few utensils, Wow, Have we really gotten that lazy? On a positive note, I think the power banks can be fantastic for people who don't have the expertise to wire in a full set of lithium batteries, inverter, etc. The all in one solution is very attractive. And when not in use you can bring inside to your main house as a backup. I see nothing wrong with them if you can't do the wiring yourself.

  • @HumbleRoad

    @HumbleRoad

    Ай бұрын

First of all, the dishwasher does not suggest laziness. It allows you to spend more time out of the camper enjoying life. And as I said in the video, I do not recommend the all-in-one power stations be used as your only power source. If it goes down, you have NO power. Add it as an ancillary.

Different Strokes for different folks I guess. I guess that's why we have Class A motor homes too. For small class B's a dishwasher seems silly to me. And my time is not so precious outdoors that I can't spend 10 minutes washing dishes. Plenty of free time camping. I have seen people use those power banks as their main power source. If you don't have a whole lot of money and don't have a lot of expertise, I think they are a great solution. I've actually never seen one fail, but I guess they can. I've got about 600 plus amp hours of lithium iron phosphate, but again for somebody without a lot of expertise who just wants to throw a camper together, they are pretty cool. I think back 10 years ago and technology was so different!

Yep, I can wash those few dishes in about the time it takes to load them in the dishwasher. And I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving it running while I'm away. I don't even run my clothes washer while away. Fortunately the time it did start to leak (split drum) I was standing right next to it. It's on the second floor so potentially would do a lot of damage if not caught right away.
