Live 3-D Printed Claymore Mines

With the help of our friends at Texas Tactical Gear, we 3D printed live and fully functional Claymore mines and set them off.
If you're a company with a need to put your products up against a Claymore, RPG warhead, landmine, Explosively Formed Penetrator, or other contemporary threats; we can simulate those them. If you're interested in our services, hit us us up on Facebook or send us an email at info@ordnance-lab.com.
As always, trying to recreate what we're doing is a great way to end up in Federal pound-me-in-the-ass-prison, and/or dead (or even worse). If you're going to embark on adventures with explosives, make sure to consult with a competent attorney, both on the legalities of explosive ordnance and for estate planning after your spectacular demise.

    @James Harding Right on, brother. It isn't a left vs right thing as much as it is a Elitist vs We the People thing. Why? Because neither side can say they aren't guilty of having tyrants in their ranks. A nation divided against itself cannot stand, and it will require us to work together to survive. You're spot on, sir. Also, happy belated independence day!

    I am not a veteran, but I am of the Vietnam war generation, and I had a number of friends who did serve and see combat over in the RVN. One of my friends who had been there had taken some claymore BBs in his back during a firefight. I’m not sure how he had ended up *in front* of a claymore when it went off, but he did. As was often the case with small projectiles, Army doctors treated the major injuries, administered antibiotics, and simply left the BBs in pace-as cutting down to them to remove them would have been more injurious than just leaving them there. (My dad's body was still yielding up small pieces of shrapnel from time to time from a chest wound suffered on Iwo Jima, right up until shortly before his death in 1990. The small bits of copper bullet jacket or pieces of the brass button on his jacket would migrate out of his chest, form a small pimple on his skin, and pop out through the skin. They were usually pretty tiny....just little copper or brass colored metallic flecks.) In any case, I was at a party in the early 1970s, and my friend Mike started gumming something around in his mouth, like he’d lost a filling or something. He spit it out, and it was a claymore BB that had traveled through his body from somewhere in his back, and popped out inside his mouth. I’ll never forget that.

    America decided to back a corrupt puppet government that had no chance of victory. The upper levels of government knew it was unwinnable, but committed lives anyways. Which is perhaps the greatest tragedy. Those politicians are the ones with blood on their hands. On all sides, lives were ruined forever.

    Just a note, in the military we use a backing for our claymores (thick tree, sturdy rock) I was told it is for two reasons, to protect the ambush line for backblast as well as to add effectiveness of the blast by projecting more of it forward...might give it a go next time and add some velocity to your shrapnel

  • @timmersd.8663

    @timmersd.8663

    4 жыл бұрын

    The reaction force is still directed backwards. The support in the rear will absorb that force, not redirect it forwards. The velocity will remain the same. Protecting from back blast is a solid idea. Telling a grunt he gets bigger bang for proper safety precaution is just added insurance to make sure he follows procedure.

    You could take advantage of 3D printing by producing specific pockets for the explosive and payload. Then you don't have to liquid nail the payload into the front of the housing, just dump it into the payload pocket. You could also add a pocket for a backplate. Let me know if you want some help on designing that for 3D printing.

    Its not a shaped charge even shaped charges have a dangerous shockwave becsuse shaped chsrges are used for armour penetration and require alot of explosives clamores only have steel ball berings on one side of the plate in front of the explosives so the shrapnel flies in one direction. Its still not safe to stand behind clamores at all. There isn't even enough room for a clamore to be a shaped charge

As a backup, there was also a Thermite with a tripwire near the pressure plate. Way back in the day like 30 years ago a friend of mine named Chris used servos from a RC car , the battery’s , the antennas & the remote combined with lots of flash powder & fine finishing nails sharpened at both ends to make a anti- personnel remote mine . God rest his soul , he died three years ago to a drug overdose , but anyway we set up half inch plywood like you guys did & blew his homemade anti-personnel mine up & WOW I mean WOW the finishing nails only had 1/8 of a inch sticking out of the wood & they were 1/2 inch long & that’s not the crazy thing about it , it was the range of how far we could stand back & blow that sucker , it was like 600 feet of pure RC range & a carnage of about 70 feet . Back then I thought that it would never work , but it did , like if you get hit by that you either going to die or spend some time in the hospital , very dangerous stuff . I still remember how he made them .

    I am amazed that you guys were able to get as good results as you did with that 3d printed shell the thought that went through my mind was would it have helped to add a bit more structural reenforcement to maybe direct a bit more force from the explosives into the direction of the intended danger zone.

    @@OrdnanceLab FYI... your steel shot needs to be annealed first so its softer, more like a mild steel. Using hardened steel bb's is why you had them bouncing off the boards & whatnot it can be dangerous (as you're no doubt aware). Milder steel in bb sizes can be difficult to find so make a little pit filled with charcoal, get'er good & hot, add the shot & cover with coals & let 'roast ' until softened (bout an hr or so depending on shot amount to fire ratio). When you can put a good dent in the shot with a hammer you're pretty much there. Just trying to share my 25yrs in heavy metal demo not trying to tell you where the bear shits in the buckwheat... Enjoy👍
