yes- yg put BACKUP on. It's still dara singing though. and pretty much all artists use backup; dara doesn't sing very strongly, but does she sound bad when she sings? no.

this post is long...but seriously? that is why she ain't solo. you have a group of girls who are good at certain things and the other girls fill in on those part in quartet style. that's what having four people is for. in a group of four in barbershop quartet style you have to create one voice. you don't have to be the best solo singer. the groups voice have to match and be able to sound good together. and i believe their voices all have similar vibes. i'm not saying that they are barbershop quartet. but from my experiences, the "background" is actually harmonizing. those harmonies are what creates the pretty notes. the magic of one voice rather than 4. those "background" notes consist of flats and sharps and other notes that just doesn't make sense and sounds weird by itself, but when put together, what do you get, a piece of art. i'm not a blackjack because i don't follow them, but i do know things about the group and singing in a group consisting of four. i'm saying this because you can't disregard the "background" singing. without those the whole song is incomplete. dara would be playing the part of tenor in this song. if you listen to the song their are four parts that each member sings. thereis a lead, baritone, bass, and tenor. plus imagine if you put 4 of the best singer together, but their style, voice, and overall singing don't match you get a group who will fight for the lead and be upset because they don't get to be main lead. if you're interested in learning more about barbershop quartet you go on wiki but can also ask me. i am not an expert. but have done competition and performances before.

I don't know about you all but I find Dara's voice so soothing and in complete contrast to the powerful voices of the other 3 girls, which puts balance to it. That is why she's my overall favorite. She's so unique! She may not be the "main" in the group but she is definitely not the least and you can never disregard her. She is Sandara Park anyway.😍🤩

All of a sudden everyone became experts on music.

i have not yet seen a group more perfect than this.

I love how effortless Minzy sings. She's the most stable in my opinion.

Definitely agree with you there - she's got the most stable voice. Bom strains a lot, CL misses some high notes, and Dara just isn't strong. Minzy is the most overall best singer in the group but unfortunately besides that and dancing, she doesn't have as much charisma or that MJ aura or pull. CL has so much of the "it" factor like GD, that she can basically do whatever she wants and people would worship her. Helps that she's got enough talent in the other areas too.

That harmony at the end always sounds phenomenal. Bom is doing something really pleasing to the ear that combines perfectly with Dara's sweet voice.

OH GOSH! Dara is just improving day by day. Her harmony with Bom and the other two is PERFECT! She knows how to do it easily. And I'm thankful CL didn't crack. Bom did GREAT! And Minzy was AMAZING. Minzy is really ready for her solo next year maybe that's why she has improved a lot vocally these days. REALLY 100%. Dara is the BEST! 2NE1 is the BEST!

The only GG that can sing live and sounded beautiful..

Their live singing really always sounds like the studio version. I love them.

Bom's always expressive..her voice is beyond amazing!

Minzy is amazing, but her stage presence along with Dara is not strong enough. And that is probably the reason why she doesn't have a solo yet. YG probably wants her to improve her stage presence before giving her a solo. Besides, Minzy has more lines compared to previous eras already. Our Ero-maknae is an all rounder, but she needs more stage charisma and stage presence to hold a solo stage, in my opinion

Honestly Cl and Bom are my biases. But if i was to be objective... Minzy sounds the best live. She sounds pretty much the same on and off record. dara has improved. Bom has a strong voice and Cl continues to show her talent. But objectively and honestly .. minzy sounds powerful and the most stable live

Dara also sings when she's still an actress here in Philippines and i admit she cant sing well (im not saying that she has a bad voice) but when she became a YG trainee and debuted as a 2NE1 member,her voice really improved a lot. I really like her.

well bom for all of 2013 sounded pretty bad...all her surgeries couldnt have helped. but her last performance for "if i were you" was amazing so shes back ♥

+Marlena Surgeries again. Maybe, you know, her actual lymph nodes attacking her throat and making it more difficult to even sing during that period? Both CL and Bom were sick almost all 2013, with CL cracking her voice almost every note and Bom strained her voice a lot during this era. Not everything is for surgery.

CL closes up on the "gueriwo haeyo" part when she should try to maintain an open throat, and also struggles with legato on the parts where she shifts into falsetto. It makes her sound as if she's pushing the note out, when it should roll effortlessly. She has to work on her vocal hygiene as well. Her voice is not naturally raspy like that. But still though, All my girls have improved! This is out of CL's vocal styling TBH... "Do you love me" shows off her voice a bit more.

***** Its not too high, because it is in her mid range. Its simply a hard passage. When I first tried to cover the song, I did the same thing. I was singing it tightly. The whole "gueriwo haeyo" part is an oppressive piece of lyric that tries to forces you to close up. CL might not have the discipline necessary to sing it openly.
