    With Jordan's point about distracting yourself so you can't feel sad, there is actually a similar theory about playing Tetris as soon as you can after witnessing a traumatic event to reduce the effects of PTSD. Jordan is getting increasingly wise

    58:00 I think a better phrasing would be "Thou shalt not run through starch water" Starch water is a non-newtonian liquid and if you try to slowly walk through it it acts like a liquid and lets you move without real issue, but if you try to a apply sudden force to it or try to run through it it'll act like almost a solid.

    The segment where Jordan asked about peacocks was so painful, because he was just completely misunderstanding what Peter was saying every single time. Basically, Jordan is completely correct that animal attractiveness or "fitness" is determined by how good they are at surviving, not by being colorful. HOWEVER, the Handicap Principle is an evolutionary theory which states that animals with features that could be seen as a handicap (such as being very brightly colored) are considered more attractive because it signals that they are very capable and good at surviving and evading predators, since they are still able to do so despite having a handicap. This is also a self-fulfilling principle, as animals with this handicap who are not actually very fit and capable will die out, leaving only the very capable ones alive. Peter tried like 4 times to explain this, and every time Jordan just said "but why is it based on colors and not competence??" when Peter was trying to tell him that it IS based on competence, just that color plays a role in signaling that competence. TL,DR: Animals that are brightly colored are attractive because they're able to survive despite having the disadvantage of being brightly colored

  • @amnot9958

    @amnot9958

    9 ай бұрын

    I think the issue was that Jordan just assumed that they were attracted to the displays themselves. As you explained, and Peter was trying to, of course, it's not that. The animals are aware of the disadvantage of the display, but because of that risk it makes it less likely that they survive by luck and more based on the quality of their genes. It tells potential mates that the displaying individual must be able to pass good genes onto offspring because they are still fit despite the handicap. Meaning they are incredibly fit, so much so that they gave up a lot of it as excess to get this display fo fitness. It's like purchasing an expensive car to show you are rich.

    Jordan's idea about a place with no modern technology is very similar to the NGL from Hunter x Hunter, so if you want to see how they did it in that anime I would highly recommend checking the clip where the main characters try to enter and what they aren't allowed to bring to stop them from advancing civilization inside of that area.

    Once again Jordan’s been a genius, when he said he’d probably do a tattoo on the bottom of the foot and Jackson said ouch, well he was a genius! The bottom of the foot is actually the best place to get a tattoo: it doesn’t hurt to get added there and it actually begins to fade unlike many other places.

    Zach depending on the magnesium (citrate tends to stimulate increased bowel movement) you will see loose stool. Gradually increase your magnesium intake and differing compounds such as taurate, oxide, bisglycinate, and others. As far as Peter saying water is a scam he's right on one hand. Water optimization is what matters not total amount. The quality of water and it's content will leave you feeling hydrated. Trust your thirst. The reason they say is not an accurate marker is because the quality of water has severely reduced over time so then your sold on buying more. Proper filtration is half the battle the other

  • @Papa_Grant

    @Papa_Grant

    The other is proper re-mineralization. A good hydration "cheat" is 1L of bicarbonate water and 1L of sodium water and you'll feel very hydrated. Your response to magnesium suggests you need more which is understandable with depletion of soil quality and it's burn rate in our bodies

  • @F0XD1E

    @@Papa_GrantI think drinking 2L of water in general will feel hydrating. You don't need "high quality" water to accomplish that. That's a scam.

    When people say they hate society they aren't always just privileged people complaining. The way we live is self destructive and unless people do complain about it nothing will change. People dont want to go back to their roots and live in the middle of nowhere, they want societies that care about the poor and working class and not the 1%. Btw love your content and distilled water kills you ♥

    NEW SEGMENT IDEA: What is the best quote you have ever said to someone that hasn't been repeated more than 3 times? If you can't find a quote ( Jordan probably ) make up one and the others can guess if it's legit or fake. Mine is, 'If you fall into a lake, just get out of it." It would be very entertaining. Thanks.
