Little Shop of Horrors Outtake Reel
Ойын-сауық
Here is an outtakes reel for the 1986 film Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Frank Oz. Based on the 1986 off-Broadway musical of the same name, both feature script and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. Both, in turn, are based on the 1960 comedy horror film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman and written by Charles B. Griffith.
Included on the film's DVD and Blu-ray releases under the title "Outtakes and Deleted Scenes," the reel does feature some footage from cut sequences from the film, primarily the original "proposal" scene as it was shot and the original ending.

Tichina Arnold saying "Merry Christmas" at the start of the take is so adorable.

I can’t believe they even filmed on Christmas Eve!
I remember when this film came out the animatronics were so convincing and natural. Even today they stand up - actually I prefer them to modern CGI.

It will always hold up to cgi, the audrey 2 puppet actually feels like a part of things. I feel like you can try to add as much realistic cgi as possible but it always feels misplaced.

@@kirbystar6447 not to be one of those nerds but oh buddy, if you ever get to see clips of what it was like to puppeteer the final twoey, you wouldn't say 10 people. For the Mean Green Mother scene it took 51 puppeteers to bring the giant audrey 2 to life. They definitely weren't just simple animatronic puppets controlled by 1 or 2 people
Rick looks so smooth in those first few seconds :) Like he could honestly do the news and keep people's attention for at least an hour.
I can literally hear Tashina Arnold singing with the chorus her voice is so strong
Semi-unrelated: These outtake reels honestly look really good. Like, for a long time, I always thought (and still do, depending on the movie) 80’s movies had this gross and grimy look to it, like they were filmed in a serial killer’s basement or something. I have to wonder if the mediocre 2000’s DVD releases of these movies painted that perception, because the newer scans (plus what I’ve seen from actual 35mm screenings) look a lot better now tbh.
Still obsessed with this film to this day, such talent and personally feel like it beats the more known ghost busters. The audrey 2 puppet still astounds me, and I’m glad it was made before everything turned into realistic cgi. Glad to see people remember this too

The Urchins are so yooooung! 😍 Ugh-love this...never gets old!
I was so glad when they remastered the original ending for DVD. One of my fav movies, and having the true ending in my collection is groovy.
There is not enough Tisha Campbell in this world! So glad she’s working again! Thank you NPH!!
god it's so easy to hear fozzie bear's voice when frank oz speaks sometimes
Frank doing his Fozzie Bear voice at 7:23 😅

@@DanJackson1977 I’ve already watched the Director’s Cut ending on KZread a long time ago. A little too long and Paul Dooley is too out of place compared to the other celebrity cameos like John Candy, Bill Murray and Christopher Guest. James Belushi was much better as Patrick Martin. But I don’t hate the Director’s Cut ending. Just giving my own nitpicks.

This movie still holds up! One of my favorites of all time.
Lost count of how many times I've seen this movie.

What a treat! Love this movie, love the original musical, too. They’re each different and charming in their own ways. Seeing these bloopers is marvelous and they’re so wholesome, honestly! No swearing like in so many bloopers I’ve seen for other films. Though it’s a comedy, these reels really capture the lighter side of what it must have been like to film such a creative and kooky masterpiece. Bravo!
Love this movie, love cast and director Frank Oz as Fozzie Bear.🥰🥰🥰🥰

It is so bizarre hearing Rick Moranis's real voice!
My favorite "Cleaning House" musical. My bird, ChaCha, loves singing and dancing along with me.
That moment where Rick had Seymour basically say “f*ck this sh*t, I’m out, bye”, shoot Audrey while Twoey is trying to eat her and then leave… 😂🤣
0:33 had me shook "Yes?"😀 "Well --" "Yes??"😀 😟 "Continue, young man." 😃 "Um, w-whut?" 😢 😳
7:27 it’s Fozzie Bear!!!
Thank you so much!! This movie is a gem, it lead me to follow on to Pushing Daisies which is just as fun! The cast was absolutely phenomenal 🌺
People had fun making movies and going to movies back then.
Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell have not aged a bit! They look exactly as they did in 1986.
I had no idea this was filmed in the UK! Lol how weird it is to hear english accents from the crew.

This movie deserved a sequel if Howard Ashman we’re still alive.
5:52, 6:05, 6:17, and 8:07, Most of these were actually from the Director's Cut version of the 1986 Movie instead of the Theatrical Cut version.
Love this movie. ♥️

Thanks for Posting. 🙂

3:01 i can’t believe I didn’t notice before how much Priah Ferguson from Stranger Things looks like her.
I'm trying to remember if the bloopers were included in the 2012 release of the movie. So grateful that Warner Bros. chose to include both the original version, along with the theatrical version. What's awkward about the 1986 film version is that the theatrical version doesn't have the original ending where everybody gets eaten. There's a long OOP DVD that's considered a collector's item now that has the original ending in black and white, but for whatever reason, the distributor chose to yank them off the shelves the day of the home video release. That would've been in the early 2000s, but I'm wondering how much they're going for on eBay.

The Director’s Cut on the Blu-ray release is not quite the original version. For one thing, Frank Oz chose not to reinstate the full Meek Shall Inherit sequence. I’m sure he explained why but I can’t remember the reason - maybe he just didn’t like the footage. It’s also missing some other things. In the workprint, the axe scene is longer and the feeding of Orin to the plant is a little more graphic.
