I remember watching this with my sister the night it aired. We SCREAMED about it for months. About 12 years ago, I was sitting at the bus stop waiting for the MTA to come my way. It was on a corner in a very busy section of town, so there was a stop light. A black towncar was slowing just ahead so it could stop for the red light. Upon stopping, the rear passenger window went down, and out stretched an arm with an autographed headshot of Little Richard. I looked at the person handing it to me, and it was him!!!! I said my thank you's, to which he replied "You are very welcome, baby! WOOOOOO!!!!!" And there I stood, picture in hand, watching that towncar roll away, taking within it the most confusing brush with insanity that I'll EVER have the pleasure of being part of.

(cont.) ...Richard was FUR-I-OUS, and didn't go to ANY Grammy ceremonies.....while Jody won, even though she was in Shalamar since 1977, and, released 8 Albums with them! ...Richard DID get a Grammy, when he wrote "Dance With My Father" for Luther Vandross in 2003, and attended the Grammy's, in honor of Luther, when he had his stroke....

@@christianmedina2793 TTD... I wore that first album OUT back in the day, but most of it feels dated to me now. It's not that I think I was foolish to listen to it so much then, not at all, but I think that some music (like that album) is so tied to the faddish musical trends of their moment that what seemed fresh and innovative at the time now seems a bit gimmicky and cheesy. I don't feel the same way when I listen to (for example) Prince from that era... I can't articulate what the difference is, but it's there.

Prince on the second row further to the right wearing his teal and black “Lovesexy” outfit. Pause and zoom. P.S. Michael was visibly hurt when he walked away empty handed that night and hopefully Richard’s rant kinda put everything in perspective for him seeing how much he accomplished vs what they refuse to acknowledge in Richard.
