How similar are the cultural and traditional values in Asian countries. Proving the bride to be a virgin by consummating the marriage on a white sheet, arranged or forced marriages, mythical beliefs, praying and of course some words like Kembaya and many more. Unknowingly, many people use words like this thinking that they are part of their own language. Extremely educational. The man with eyes popping out of his head, the pig slaughter, he is so hilarious. ( 20 pigs and a favour ). Then of course the HISTORY of the British Empire,

i hated the ending, by that time it became clear that the series promoted bad people instead of rewarding the good ones. i wasn't happy that in the end, yueniang wasn't able to have children and instead adopted the son of a murdering rapist!!! yuzhu who was so very kind got raped and then spent her remaining days in a mental hospital?!! what bullshit is that!!! the writers made all her kindness worth nothing!!! it would have been a better ending if yueniang ended up marrying xifer, yuzhu married paul and zhenzhu got raped by robert, became a prostitute and connived with robert to harm the chen family, became addicted to opium and drowned in the sea when they tried to escape!

Nyonya, Peranakan or Baba do not speak Putonghua so these series do not reflect the true nyonya in their true spirits.
