Exactly. Can't remember the last time I was actually terrified by a horror game, instead of cheap jumpscares. Like the perfect mix of stealth, platforming, horror and suspense. Most stealth games have you preying on someone until you kill them, this is the opposite; you're sneaking to avoid being killed. I especially like the lack of jumpscares, you're still terrified but in a more subtle, lingering way.

For me I get why it didn't get much attention. Design wise, oh my god top notch. Atmosphere you are right again fucking top notch. But the game is 1. too short. I beat it in a single night, so because I was hungry for more (haha get it?) i got the DLC for free from Gamestop. But the DLC "Secrets of The Maw" answered next to nothing about the overall lore. Other than we ate some nameless kid who if we didn't know about, we wouldn't have even cared. It adds very little to the story because he's just a random kid. But the DLC again was also too short even if you play back to back. I had alot of fun but it ended just as i was getting so involved. 2. Silent Narrative. I personally enjoy this, Limbo, Inside, those are great games with a silent narrative that you kinda have to figure out yourself. But not everyone likes this, most people want definitive answers, not 30 KZread videos about the theories behind certain scenes. Again I like this kinda thing because it opens discussions but it may not be the most popular thing. 3. Short Shelf Life. This is a game that is very easy to 100% complete, it takes barely any effort. And once you've done that, there is no incentive to ever play it again. It's a game that's forgotten after awhile, and then 3 years later you find it and think "Oh wow I remember this, I'll play it again, it was fun!" Other than that you just watch videos on KZread. I personally like this game and it was worth the buy. but again it has its flaws like any other game and I can see why it's not like to talk of the town yknow? but that's ok because then we know everyone is missing out.

@@ShiniRyuga So, about the Secrets of the Maw thing: I think the thing about how we ate a kid-turned-Nome is supposed to make everything more unsettling, because that means that all the Nomes are just kids that got trapped in the Lady's clutches, and we just ate one. But that's just me, could be wrong lol.

Through Six's ability to accumulate the knowledge of the things she devoured was she able to understand that the mirror was the geisha's downfall. His sacrifice actually gave Six the information that she needed so even though sad it was vital since he could not communicate with her anymore due to his transformation

I've never felt more emotional towards a piece of sausage in the floor.

That is just it. Her face isn't the problem, as she's found a way to remain young forever. The mirror just shows her for what she truly is: an old woman. So despite her youth and apparent beauty, she'll only ever see an old crone looking back in the mirror. (disclaimer: this is just a theory that is being discussed, I don't believe this was ever confirmed.

@@gameq7015 Not only that, but if you actually go into the game's model files and open the Geisha lady's 3D model and remove her mask, they actually did model her face and it looks normal, even pretty. Interesting attention to detail that we were apparently never meant to see, huh?

Sanji Kuroashi the creators themselves confirmed she is not her mother in an interview.

I love this series so much. That's why this ending killed me more than it should have. He did so much shit to help six and he basically became her sacrifice to complete her transformation in the end. I was so shattered because of how painfully and beautifully this was tied in together. I loved it but at the same time it broke me. And that's how you make a good indie game.

@@nealkelly9757 Gameplay wise yes, you throw meat to distract it. In terms of killing it, along with appearance are different. Kaernks are killed with crates or barrels. The Granny is killed with a TV thrown into the water. Finally, the Kaernk is an invisible fish monster, and the concept art portrays it as a mutated shark. The Granny is just a giant mutated human with long arms.

Well, they spelt Gnome without a G so people would know they aren't gnomes, they're kids. Also it's never revealed why Six eats the kid, it could be hunger or a more symbolic hunger such as the hunger for power.

@@youngveggies6558 Actually it was revealed very subtly at first, then it began to get more gradual. The janitor takes dead kids and wraps them in body bags. The body bags are seen in the kitchen. If you're caught, the chefs either chop you, toss you in a stove, drop you in a boiling pot, or stuff you in a fish. Finally, it's all but spoken when the gluttonous guests try to devour you. Six may be a starving killer, but she has her own sets of morals. She either doesn't want to "betray" her people, or become her enemy.

That scene startled me so badly because I didn’t expect the Lady to notice us and scream.

Damn so you end up being the one 6 eats. This game is amazing on every level it is sad to see it so underrated. Id rather play games like these over fps any day. The atmospheric detail, the tension, sound design are all top notch.

Such a dark and powerful ending

This game look so awesome never heard about it, glad that it was in my recommendation

I wish these game were way longer... I love them all

And then it gets eaten later on... Wow... so dark. All that work and effort getting past all those difficult tasks, just get cannibalized by Six. 😕

I have a love/hate relationship with this ending.

After playing this game thrice a time i am glad to share the real story of little nightmares that i came to know after researching all the photographs throughout the game. Spoiler Alert! The story begins with a 9 year old girl "six" who found herself in unknown place called "The prison". Six is the daughter of the alchemist named as " The Lady " who used to be the Incharge of "MAW". now many people get confused about " The Maw ". Maw is actually a ship but of gigantic size & only small portion of it visible over the surface of sea which usually looks like an Island with a tower. This gigantic ship "MAW" has ability too appear anywhere mysteriously & all the little nightmares used to happen here itself. six was sent to the prison under the order of THE LADY . Where u can see many other Children either dead or prisoned . For making her work easy THE LADY has several team members or you can say 'Monsters' . first was JANITOR who used to take care of prison although he is blind but have a great smell sense & extremely long hands . Janitor didn't kill any kid he just captured the kids in the cage & those who are grown enough to be cook was passed to the twin chefs as serving to the apetite guests. "Twin Chefs" are the backbone of MAW . They made varities of dishes including childrens flesh or meat which is a great deal for an apetite Guests . The whole ship MAW is generally based on steam power Engine for generating energy & you can see the abundance of coal throghout the engine section of ship in the last DLC. Now still question arises that why That women doing all these creepy things ?? as earlier said The lady is an alchemist & MAstered in creating dark magic spells . The Lady is also a obese only from her face & she seriously looks ugly thats why she always used too cover her face with a mask . You can see her real face in LAst DLC which is kinda fatty and odd looking face but earlier she was Beautiful lady & have a nice family too but then something mysterious happens & she lost her beauty maybe due to obesity . she uses magic dark spells & have tendency to retract soul from any living being for immortality . she invites guests & serve infinte buffet including childrens flesh & meat so that MAW remain popular & she can feed the soul of her guest,s later on for her immortality. now again come back to "six" the yellow raincoat she wears is actually taken from other girl body who found mysteriously dead so it is possibility that six is not the daughter of The Lady rather the girl from which she taken a coat was the real daughter of The Lady . On continuing her journey in the maw six interacts with a small cute creatures named as "nome,s" . Those childrens who trying to surpass The lady were transformed into normes. The only way to relax them is too give them a hug & the norm that six eats in the end of the game once a boy & coincidencly placed in the same prison but on different cage . The Moral of little nightmares is about how child trafficking snatches there innocense from their childhood & can how the brutal murderer can be cute at the same time & this is utter reality of our world childrens were taken away from there parents & were forced to live in the darkness with a fear that we can only imagine in our "LITTLE NIGHTMARES". IN the end SIX is the new Alchemist & maybe in future she acts opposite just like ALEX MERCER FROM PROTOTYPE 1.

The game is so detailed, it’s satisfying

Ok, so be mad at me or don't, but as shocked as I was to see she ate a Nome, I can't be mad at Six. She was in the kitchen, and she saw those body bags on the way to the meat locker. So, because she didn't know that Nomes used to be human, she ate him instead of eating a deceased person. If your gonna be mad, point it at the Lady. This wouldn't have been a problem in the first place if she wasn't controlling the Maw.

If you like this you should play the game Little Nightmares, look at the gameplay, or look at the little lore there is. It's some pretty interesting stuff. Of course I don't control what you do but I recommend doing any of these options.

You assume it was supposed to be dry, but given how well Granny lives in that place, 8t does make more sense that *it is the intended way* for maybe deter hostages or water is needed for other purposes.
