Jimmy was so genuine, and down to earth. His heart was the biggest thing about him.
Been an admirer of the late Mr Dickens my entire 56 years. I grew up on a holstein dairy farm and the folks he talks about sound just like my Aunt Pearl and Uncle Bill.
I have had the honor of meeting this living legend! What a gentleman. He still is a wonderful entertainer!!
I had a chance to do a Grand Ole Opry show with Little Jimmy! I am only about 5'4" and standing next to Jimmy I felt like a giant! Loved hearing him sing with his jumbo guitar! Truly a legend in country music! So talented but yet so humble.
My family was like that...in 1961 my Great Grand Mother died, while I was there, but she told me of life back then, JUST like what Jimmy describes here.RIP Little Buddy :) Say Hi to Hank & George for me... :)
Number 1 Gentleman. RIP. Little Jim
why in the world would anyone not like this?

I agree, he was a huge man on the inside where it counts. He absolutely loved country music and the Grand Ole Opry.
What a fine, decent man Mr. Dickens is.
God bless you Jimmy.
LOVE THIS MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides his fame on The Opry, Little Jimmy was friends with Hank Williams and Hank wrote “Hey Good Lookin” for Dickens but he recorded it for himself. Little Jimmy also discovered Marty Robbins, and Dickens was the first to wear the Nudie Suit on The Grand Ol Opry. Not bad for a country boy from Bolt.
I've seen him at the Grand Ole Opry many times and once I got to shake hands with him!!!!
A very fine history of the times.
I remember performing with him, in 1978. He was quite the funny fellow! From one Virginian to another, here's to "Tater"!
Fantastic video ---I am learning more of the man than before
jIMMY WAS 60 WHEN HE VISITED MY WIFE IN THE HOSPITAL IN WEISBADEN GERMANY IN 1969.
That was definitely an Awesome video, I rated it 5 stars!!!!
RIP Jimmy.

@ronleon62 yes, he is... just discovered him on the advice of a friend. I wish we all could live to our late 80's and have such clarity of mind..

I apologize if I offended anyone with my comment last week, my remarks were out of line and certainly not meant to hurt anyone including Jimmy. Wayne
Wow ":57 - :59 his upper half of his face failed to move, thats impressive
Big man my foot...he came to Texas in 1972 to help a small community raise money for a Volunteer Fire Department that was forming... The gym filled up with a huge crowd to see him perform. He and his people collected the money and left the scene without dropping a dime. He's big alright!
