As someone who lives in the Illinois Valley I'll say this. It was a beautiful place to hike and swim, unfortunately we've been overrun with transients that trash that campground every year, RV's often are abandoned on FS roads and set on fire contaminating both our clean air and water. If you felt creeper out on the trail it was for good reason. We have a serious problem with criminals hiding out on our public lands. Breaks my heart.

I started on that trail, but for some reason got creeped out and turned around. Must be the area because I got bad vibes going through Cave Junction years later.

Bummer, sorry to hear that! There was a pretty bad mess in the bathroom and a disheveled tent when I was there that gave me a bad vibe too. Nothing bad on the trail though.
