This meme of 4k is not high is getting old people need to stop forcing there subjective opinion onto something that can be mathematically objective. You might not think 4k mmr is 'good' that's fine, but even 3k is already above average 4k is in the top 86%. Meaning literally only 14% of dota players are better then them. The answer to OPs question is if you look at the distribution of mmr at exactly 4k you will see an absurd spike compared to all other mmrs in the distribution curve which points to something external influencing the distribution. In short they buy there accounts.

That doesn't matter people that get placed in 1k are 1k players you can't just ignore everyone under 1k. You are literally taking people out to make the statistics fit your world view. That is not how the world works people that play and get placed into 1k ARE dota players. They shape the distribution of dota players just as much as the professionals that have 9k mmr. And actually the lower brackets follow a much more standard distribution pattern then 4k. Objectively if you have 4k mmr your mmr is higher then 86% of dota players.
