He let me play this guitar once at a show during sound check. Went out and got an ES-175 within a couple of days. Nicest, coolest guy in the world.

He reminds me of a guy who worked in a music store where I used to live years ago.....These dudes like Charlie are from the good ol' school of guitar pickin' that I hope will continue to inspire future players......thank you Charlie..

This guy has a lifetime of blues guitar knowledge and a lifetime of road experience. It's too bad that he's retired from playing The Blues. He's following his muse and playing gypsy jazz, a very valid music style. But the blues community really misses his absence. Good luck to you, Charlie Baty, no matter what musical style you decide to pursue.

The BEST! I had the time of my life a few yrs ago with Mr. Baty after their show at Moondogs in Blawnox PA! I bought him a cocktail and we sat in the back pool room and talked guitars, etc...for a few hours! I learned more in that few hrs by osmosis than in 30 years of playing! He opened with an instrumental version of The Flintstones, my cheek muscles were sore from smiling after it!! Thanks Charlie!!

This is so priceless. I knew this guy was special and I saw him with Rick about seven times through the years. I got him and the band to sign just about every Cd they did. Seeing this vid of him talking about the theory behind his playing deepens my respect for this man's professionalism. I hope to see him come back and play the blues again someday. I understand that he's gone a different direction these days. Has he recorded anything since retiring from his old band? Mr. Baty is my numbe

@EricCirca6566: No kidding about Charlie quiting the blues!? I'm sorry to hear that. I saw him years ago, and he was a great player. John Jorgenson, the great country guitarist, got the same bug and quit playing country, country-rock, etc. to pursue his love of Django Reinhardt and gypsy jazz. Whatever moves you, I guess...
