I suspect most people today won't recognize that Little Tommy Tucker is a satire of Frank Sinatra (who was famous for being really skinny in his early days), or that Humpty Dumpty is Edward G. Robinson, who played tough crime figures in movies who were (as he says) "hard-boiled". When this cartoon was new, however, audiences in the USA all knew who these characters were.

I love the celebrity appearances in these old cartoons

This was the second cartoon in a "50 Greatest Cartoons" VHS tape I used to have.

Is it weird if while watching this as a kid the only thing I could think about was why Audrey put on those glasses while watching the goose lay eggs?

this is one of my favorite episodes of a cartoon right along with the stupidstitious cat and red hot riding hood.

Mae Questel was "Audrey's" voice between 1948 and '58; Paramount saved money by not renewing their rights to Marge's {Marjorie Henderson Buell} "Little Lulu" character after 1948, creating their own "cute little girl" [she first appeared in "test footage" during 1948's "Olive Oyl For President"]. They also made more money by having animator Steve Muffati draw the daily Little Audrey comic strip for King Features in 1951 (which were reproduced in the Harvey comic books Muffati also drew her for}.

Actually, Audrey Kerwin Smith first appeared in 1946, not '48. Her first Cartoon was called "A Little Audrey Christmas" which was released in 1947.

@ngarcia103 yep i can still remember it. daffy was in a lab and a mad scientist was doing an experiment and he went to drink the potion and the tape stops and started rewinding, my brother and i started freaking out. lol we were young
