I used to use an AGM inside my projecta power hub but switched to a 12v 100ah lithium. Works great 👍

After getting the Bluetti, I gave the projects to one of the kids, she's putting a 100ah Lithium in it as well! Should last a lot longer, and be much lighter....

Great review but look forward to seeing some more real world testing over a few days camping, and hearing how it holds up after a few months of use. About the step up converter, can you just wire that up to a normal ciggy plug. So you use the ciggy plug charger provided by bluettie, cut it in the middle, and then wire the step up into it?

I'm assuming you mean using the 28v boost converter to charge the bluetti system faster? The answer is not really. at 28V the unit will try to pull ~200w /16A. from your ciggarette socket which most cars top out at 10A for. You would need to run a dedicated wire from the battery to do it.

Without an Anderson plug input, how do you connect your solar blanket? Can you get an adaptor, or do you need to use their proprietary panels?

There's an adaptor cable for standard solar plug inputs. If your solar blanket uses Anderson plugs, you'll need to make an adaptor.

almost certain that 650wh cutoff would be bms related 90% DOD cycle is pretty good, i wouldn't want to discharge it much more than that. IMO these units suit the more casual camping crowd, those that have subaru type SUV and not so much proper 4wds, where typical campsites they frequent are a short walk from car where the carpark is fenced from the site. They typically have low power requirements, just a few camp lights, few phones, laptops, torches, maybe a little heated blanket and most likely only use an esky or small fridge These are not cost effective for larger power requirements . They also can't be tucked out of the way into dead spaces , under bonnet or tray etc. They remind me of apple products, very sleek and elegant solution which are easy to use and understand user interface but lack the customisability and functions power users want. They actually seem to be decent value for lower power requirements. Try to piece together a 56ah Lifepo4 capable of 100A discharge, 1000w PSW inverter, 240v charger, mppt regulator, enclosures , usb, usb c pd sockets and shunt based battery monitor. I don't think youll be be far off or even beat it. You still have to assemble it and it won't be as neat of a unit. Only problem is that 12v charge time, absolutely hopeless which would probably be fine if you charged it up before you leave for a weekender and bring a solar blanket with you

Hi ...off the topic question. I have a Prado with 2 inch Dobinsons lift. My stock tires are 265/65/R17. Now after lift I want to change the tires to All terrain but am confused on what tire size to keep. Should I keep it same 265/65 or change it? If I increase the tire size will it effect the pick up power or speedometer?

If you go up in size without changing diff ratios your speedo will change and the car will accelerate slightly worse. Remember, you only get half the diameter increase of the tyre size in extra clearance under the car. Having said that, for off-roading, as long as the tyres clear the bodywork etc, I haven't met a tyre size increase that I haven't liked!

Lithium.... everything including my starting battery is Lithium. iTech1420CA PRO cranking battery tested at 1926CCA 63AHr iTech120X, 120Ahr "deep cycle" Both are 4gen BMS iTech DCDC40 which integrates main/secondary/solar with MPPT. Unless I'm gone for more than 4 days, I don't bother with the solar panel. I've never thought about a portable power-hub as 90% of my power draw stays in the car

It depends on your camping setup I guess, occasionally I'm camped further away from the car than you can run wires for power inside your tent or swag.

@@LockyourHubs4WDing Oh absolutely. Having a swag until I get my HS RRT I can attest to running cords but having said that, I leave my phone in the car because I'm always out of service (best way to camp imo) and my light are all rechargeable so the only wire I'd need if for a ran, which I can say I haven't needed. Ultimately once I've finished my set up it will be all self contained for fast set up and pack up times so I can get to camp and not worry about dragging crates out or stuffing around with a swag/tent, sit back and have a cuppa.

Lower C rate would've got closer to the stated capacity. A real world weekend away test is required please 🙏

A lower C rate discharge might have gotten a little closer, but probably not near 10%. I'll be using the Bluetti camping, so keep an eye out on upcoming videos.

I haven't notice that it's hard to read, though haven't had it out in the midday sun in the middle of summer either!
