I started reading all the comments, which seemed to mainly be about two things: the performer's facial expressions and the relationship of Wagner to Nazism. But all of a sudden my reading was interrupted by the emerging realization that I was listening to a fantastic performance. This is great. What a magnificent interpretation and performance of this piece of music. Bravo!

It amazes me that people have the utter temerity to comment about facial expression or Wagner's relationship to Nazism when they simultaneously have a tin ear and an absent mind for the beauty present in the fleeting moment we find ourselves in. In that moment I realize the majesty of Alice Cooper's words- "Some folks live for no reason", and I pray for their miserable lives to end as swiftly as possible.

Well, they're probably the only things people would care about if they don't know about the stories in Lohengrin.

I love his facial expressions - he obviously takes joy in expressing the piece, he feels the music deeply, and his touch is wonderful.

The most beautiful thing humanity has accomplished must be music itself...

once you've heard this performance you've been spoiled: you can never enjoy a different interpretation. this one is perfect. Wagner is smiling at this..

Great movie! A reality into history!

I played this in high school orchestra, and have listened to many versions of it, but this is the first time I've ever heard it performed on the piano. This has always been one of my favorite pieces.

Exquisitely played! First time I've ever seen anyone keep time with their mandible!

He's not the only one to have a "tick", I've seen other pianists tense their jaw muscles or even hum like krystian zimmerman or glenn gould. it just shows to me they understand the music with every fiber in their body and put everything they have into the performance.

Such beautiful music,beautifully played. Stop everything, listen and look.

I play this on my Roland with delayed strings and it sounds so close to the intended piece. Just saw this last week at the Metropolitan Opera and was stunned by the beauty.

The original was incredible, but Liszt was able to give the piece a serenity it did not have before.

Sensitive musicality and excellent pianistic abilities.

A really wonderful interpretation! Thank you!

For the full Liszt interpreations of Wagner go on doverpublications then search "Liszt Wagner" or ask a music sheet store nearby they can probably get it for you. There might be other publications but at least that's the one I have, and as far I can tell this piece is the same.

+J.J Whitty PS: Just to give you a clear example of propaganda..... Schindlers list, you know it? Have another look, and watch what happens right at the start of the movie. He pins on something, a small badge or how you call it, a pin. That pin was one for the Elite of the NSDAP. So that would mean mr Schindler is NSDAP elite. Some 100 of them were produced and spread. Then......according to mrs Schindler they lived in german speaking Czech. And when Germany invades that part, Sudetenland, they have to flee to Krakow, Poland. Adolf Hitler did a lot worse than hit a dog. I dont know if you're a history buff but the more I learn about Hitler, the more I don't care for him. he started a world war which killed 60m people, including 6 million innocent civilians killed in concentration camps. I know the bible says not to judge, but I'm just gonna come right out and say it: this hitler guy was a real jerk!

@@tonyclifton265 I'm not defending a monster like Hitler (who indecently was once the most loved man in Europe), however; he did not kill as many of his own people as Lenin, Stalin, Mao or Pol Pot or is not held in reverence like Genghis Khan, Che Guevara, etc. who also tortured and murder their own people. Anyhow, Hitler the narcissistic psychopath only continued WW1. But he loved Blondie so I suspect he was also a Dog lover :)

Stunning! What's really lovely about Wagner is his Jewish sensibility for melody and tonal colors, it's very romantic.
