@@sharpiefatah3657 The clock and bells have been stopped to allow for major renovations of the Clock Mechanism and the tower its self. The Main hour bell 'Big Ben' Is so loud it would risk deafening workers that are working around the clock face and belfry. So they have to be silenced until work has finished which it almost has now. I think the bells will chime again pretty soon.

What's happened to big ben

This bought tear to my eye. It is sad and emotional because Big Ben has always been a major part of our British nationality. The stones and old Roman numerals clock plays a big role in British society and goes back to our ancestry heritage which made our ancestors very happy and proud and l believe more people felt like me lost and sad same as our ancestors would had felt. Every chime, is a chime of glory and pride to be born British. Very, very heart breaking!

Exonite HD there are also lots of types of mountains but it’s acceptable to just call Mount Fuji “a mountain”. Clock is an umbrella term which Big Ben falls under. It’s fine to call it a clock.

Bonnie I heard church bells in my ears three weeks ago. I was sitting on the lawn outside the back entrance after the service waiting for my ride to come and all of a sudden, It's *a pretty sound* but I don't like *too much volume* because *my ears are sensitive*

TheCycloneable I find that comment very offensive. Why should it only be Britons who will be affected by the silence of the world's most famous bell?! It's importance and symbolism and prominence reaches out across the world otherwise why would it be so famous and historically important? Repairs need to be made to the tower, and the mechanism and accuracy of the clock itself therefore Ben can't chime until this vital work has been completed. In the hearts of people around the world Ben is only having a short sleep, he's not silent to those who hear and love the chimes in the mind !
