@ Phili Smith as great as that would've been I did a bit of searching and this video and that of the Chinese student are not in the same year. The ticktock was of this year and this video was 4 years ago. Like I said it would've been great but he still has a long road ahead

Finally, someone who sings it the way it's written (with added acuto at the end). The last time I heard such precise singing was when Sutherland and Sills were singing the role. The tenor (who looks like he is 15 years old) is very good. Bravissimi!

The Tenor is Ivan Ayon Rivas. He was born in 1993 in Peru which would have made him 23/24 at the time of this Aids benefit. Very mature voice for his age but I agree, he looks about 15 lol. Also agree with your comment about Lisette. She's a wonderful technical and emotive singer.

The tenor is from Perú 🇵🇪 my country... He won Operalia the last year... He is 29 nowadays🤗

She's definitely one of the best in her generation.

For anyone looking for the tenor's name: His name is Iván Ayón-Rivas. Thanks to the Peruvian commenters who were able to recognize him!

Her high notes are beautiful and she's simply adorable ! 🌹🌹🌹

Hands down the best modern rendition of this aria I've heard. She has such a perfect grasp of the style and architecture of this music, and she has the florid technique to sing everything required naturally and effortlessly. There is something about her phrasing and her effortless use of fioriture as a means of expression really remind me of Callas in her prime, though the voice is a much lighter voice that La Divina's. I have heard only two modern sopranos who understand this music well: Oropesa and Eglise Gutierrez.

Extraordinary Lisette Oropesa. Very good the tenor; a pity that he is not given credit since when he appears on the scene his name (Iván Ayón-Rivas) does not appear superimposed in the video, but the name Lisette Oropesa for a second time.

GLORIOUS ! Lisette must be one of the leading sopranos by now. She amazes everybody. I only discovered her recently, haven't heard such a unique voice since my beloved Anna Moffo (1932-2006) , who was the ruling Violetta in her days, among ruling many other roles. So nice that Lisette replies to positive comments on youtube, which indicates that , although already very famous, she still values the reactions of admirers. And we do appreciate that! Anna Moffo as Lucia & Lisette Oropesa as Lucia di L are both divine. Divine! I saw Lisette at Royal Opera House, in Lucia di Llamermoor. She was beyond adjectives of perfection! Her coloratura is sublime. The effect she projects as a dramatic actress is a wonder...everyone held their breath...a heart-stopping talent!

Anna Moffo will always be my favorite and, in my opinion, the only flawless Violetta ever. Period. The recorded performance of La Traviata, with Moffo, Tucker, Merrill, and Previtali will always be the best. If you've never heard it, please do. It still gives me chills and makes me cry.

I saw her in Pittsburgh a couple years ago and I became an instant fan. I seriously do not understand how a human voice can do that.

What a breath of fresh air she is! Very well sung.

I so agree with you . What sets her apart from any soprano out there at the moment is the intelligence of her musical phrasing. Take the time and listen to her incredible Lucia from Madrid last year. I had the great pleasure to be in the audience at the ROH when she sang her first Lucia in London 2 years ago and I was ( as most people in the audience) just so impressed by the quality and the beauty of her singing that I became her biggest fan. Looking forward to hear her again soon. She had a tremendous success in Paris in " Les Huguenots" and " Elisir d'Amore". Now on to "La Scala" for the " I Masnadieri". This is one soprano to watch in the years to come. Brava Lisette.

This was flawless, omg! Lisette never fails to amaze me after I discovered her while watching clips of the MET’s production of Hansel und Gretel this season. The tenor had to have the most crisp diction ofnall the Alfredo’s I’ve heard. This was a pure eargasm.

Lisette Oropesa is the real deal! Her voice has a beautiful shimmer like Angela Gheorghieu’s that brings tears to my eyes. She is in a class by herself. Stunningly beautiful! Thank you Lisette for all you have shared on KZread.

What a voice! What good technique! Some may throw rocks at me for this, but I mean it as a compliment. Her sound reminds me of of a young Beverly Sills, so bright, agile and precise but without sacrificing emotion. I noticed there is also a clip of her singing one of Bubble's signature arias from "Robert le Diable" so perhaps Sills was one of her influences. Bravissima, Ms. Oropesa!!

YatesNYC Why would anyone throw rocks?? Sills was a great artist, and she sounded much better in the theater than on recordings. I saw her many times; she was fantastic up until the last few years of her singing career.

As great as this is, she was even greater in the Met Traviatas back in March prior to the COVID-19 shut down. Oropesa is an artist whose voice continues to grow in depth, color and size. The best is yet to come.

I’ve been watching the Met HD streams online. I saw a version of La Traviata with Renée Fleming and I couldn’t stand her. Her voice is so heavy and muddy with no clarity and terrible vowels. I also watched Lisette in Manon and was blown away, not just by her singing but her acting and expression. I wish there were more recordings of her operas in full. I’m tired of seeing Fleming and Netrebko appear over and over in these Met HD videos. I don’t like their voices. I also saw Joyce DiDonato in Cendrillon and, again, I don’t understand why people love her so much. In that video at least her voice was so thin and whiny. And the woman playing La Fée (I don’t know her name - she was a young Asian woman) was definitely not as strong as Lisette. Her coloratura was very light but not in a good way - it seemed to lack foundation for me. I think Lisette would have absolutely nailed that role. I’ve heard some people call her high notes screechy and I don’t hear that at all. I’d much rather see her than any of the other singers I mentioned. She’s a breath of fresh air in an industry that seems to keep bringing back the same singers because they’re famous despite the fact that their technique is in decline. She’s going to have a wonderful career!

I just love her. The technique and all is there. Even the tenor compromises to be there for her. The 💪❤❤❤

Oh! She is so charismatic, and her voice so full! The tenor too, very nice!!! This aria is very difficult, and beyond the technique, or the precisions, they make us enjoy this wonderful masterpiece. BRAVO!!!!
