David Biedenbender (1984-)
is an American composer. He is known for his beautifully structured works for, among others, the United States Army Band. He also works as a conductor and teaches at Michigan State University.
'Liquid Architecture' (2012) was written for Randall Hawes, bass trombonist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Cleveland Orchestra.
The music is inspired by the work of architect Frank Gehry, known for his "liquid" style. This can also be heard in the structure of the composition; the ideas transform gradually, there are virtually no hard transitions. The work consists of two parts: 'Hard' and 'Smooth'.
