Wow! I did not expect this great of a video ! you always make great videos, but this one was surprisingly even better yet. You are so blessed fortunate to have not just one visual line big boy, but at least 3+ a couple others that are not vision line. This may sound so stupid/cliché here for a possible future run video but I love you UP just like you do how about in a future running video and all UP steam video you kind of gives a preview with all three vision line big boys bring back 3989, 843, 844 and even the 12 wheeler boy that would be the ultimate show

EPIC locomotive, singing wasn't bad either. $4500 is a lot Eric, more than 90% of us can afford but we can dream.

O Gauge is expensive, period. I remember a few years ago asking Eric what he did for a living because to consistently make content, especially in this hobby, requires money. And these locomotives and roll stock are not cheap. The layout alone costs a grip!

Very nice. About the whistle on the caboose - for those not aware cabooses would have air horns/whistles fitted to them in case the train had to make a reverse maneuver. The crew on the caboose would use the caboose whistle to sound warnings at crossings since the loco was at the other end of the train. Really helpful especially on locals having to make long backing moves down industrial branches which could be downtown with several crossings or running along public roads.

This has to be the coolest set Lionel has ever made, and it's worth every penny in my opinion. I've been excited for this review ever since this set was announced back in January. The Big Boy has always a favorite for me, so I love that I got to see 2 Big Boy reviews back to back. Can't believe you have 5 of these monsters on your layout. Love the scene where you ran 3 of these things, surprised you didn't pop a braker 🤣. Great review Eric!

WOW! Absolutely incredible! The sheep cars are hilarious! What a fantastic set. Love the lil whistle on that caboose. Watching your three Big Boys in that massive consist was so fun to watch. What an absolutely beautiful train set. Wow!!!

I’m a conductor for UP and some of our quiet zones on the subdivision I run. They have speakers at the crossing that blow the big boy whistle ever so slightly while we roll through.

I love how every car has a specific sound, that's crazy. That's crazy how you got it for $4499!!

Very cool sound effects on every freight cars and one caboose hauled by this new U.P Big Boy locomotive. Lionel did outstanding job putting realistic details, Sounds and schemes that sometimes can caught my eyes.

Can’t wait for the Christmas live stream thanks for bringing me back into a hobby I haven’t touched in years forgot how satisfying it is seeing a old school steamer rolling down the track

Of all the big boys out there recently, this one seems to have actually nailed the sound of the whistle perfectly. The other versions in recent years still sound 95% correct but this one seems spot on!

All Eric vids now require the musical intro. 😂 That set is insane!

Very very very impressive set Eric. Fun Fact: That’s a very old expression, “on the lamb”! That meant gangster or criminal was in hiding. It was common then to have mint jelly on the lamb 🐑 (Simplified explanation)

Very impressive set, truly a train fit for the big boy

This may be the first time I’ve seen 3 big boys running in tandem like this (idk what the correct term is). Absolutely incredible. That’s 48 drive wheels Lolol. I wonder what the pulling power would be for the 3 of them in series like that. Insane. Also- you’re a brave man running them at speed like that. One little thing goes wrong and you have a very expensive repair.

I need to thank you for this video, and video updating your engine collection. My wife has been whining about recent train purchases. Yesterday she was going through the checkbook register reading off the various charges. Then Charles Ro sent an email showing two arrivals coming in that I ordered long ago. So I sat down and watched this video, and your engine update video, making shure she was there to see it. And it worked! I don’t look so bad now. Mentioning the price of the Super Set in the beginning of the video was perfect. Thanks for being my Mississippi.

A very nice video and review. The set is quite gorgeous and amazing. The rail sounds are quite well done. The dialog is quite cheesy, though. It gave me a good laugh this morning to start my day. Hopefully, Lionel will start using a more prototypical crew and dispatcher dialog in the future. Once again, an excellent review. I always look forward to your videos. Have a fine Holiday.

Something else cool about the visionline cars (maybe it’s exclusive to the station sounds coaches) is as you pull down on the train brake lever you can hear the brakes become more and more intense on the car, it’s a pretty cool effect when combined with the regular brake on the locomotive, makes it sound like a real train stopping!

@@doubleutubefan5 I do enjoy discussions about the top sets. Was that the most recent Acela Sat that has the opening doors or the first one? Will have to look up that tinplate Milwaukee Set. I was thinking along the lines of the GG1 passenger set and the “Anniversary” Set from 1950. The passenger set not the freight set.

@@gregleuze6657 for the Accela I am referring to the first one. It had problems yes but it was innovative. That's why it gets tops marks from me The gg1 set is a good one. Eric here reviewed both the old and new ones. What's funny about that is when it first came out everyone thought it was scale size but in reality it was more like 0.27 semi-scale. Then when the vision line/ legacy version was released, customers realized holy moley this thing's really big. I would put the GG1 set in the top 10 for sure. I will admit that I admitted the blue comet set which is a very popular set and highly sought after, but this list is more along the lines of my top five. And I wanted to cover all 123 years in business. Personally, I think Lionel is in a better spot than it's ever been with the modern stuff as it adds so much more play value with the sounds. Don't get me wrong, for years I used postwar trains in a conventional layout and they were immense fun, but they pale in comparison to today's modern legacy systems with five different whistles and bells to choose from to personalize the locomotive to you. Also plenty of road specific crew talk dialogue, the sound cars, station sound passenger cars and now a sound caboose. The audio is extremely immersive and can be used time and time again. This is also why I have 2 out of 5 sets in the modern era. Lionel makes it easy to access these features and 90-95% of the time, it's a quality product

Now that is a train set!

That is a great set. I think that the experience it creates with all the sounds as it is moving is great. Sound cars, even basic ones, can make running the trains so much different and more immersive.

You saw an opportunity to do a big boy lashup and you took it

Seeing these reviews makes me tempted to switch from HO Scale to O scale. These locomotives are _loaded_ with features! Even the _cars_ have sound! I saw a review of the Acela Express and it left me feeling jealous. The HO Scale Acela Express doesn't even have sound. If I remember correctly, the doors on the Lionel one could be opened.

The caboose doesn't work except for sound. It does not have sounds when moving. I must not have programed it right 🤷‍♂️

Idk if you do much switching on your layout Eric but with that Caboose you could definitely use it as a shove platform for a train making a reverse move. Just a suggestion. Merry Christmas!

Hi, before Bluetooth, before remote controls , how did 0 gaugers control all the trains going in different directions? I remember Gomez Addams running two trains in opposite directions on the same track! How was that done!? Thanks for your response. 😊
