Neat trains. Your layout has an awsome 50/60's vibe.

I like what you are doing. I got caught in the transition period. I have tubular track and mostly conventional trains. Now all the new track and trains are out. I'm still running conventional power, but i have a couple of newer engines. I like conventional power and older accessories.

Very nice. Personally, I like running the older Bakelite heavyweight 'Irvington' cars behind my GP7s. Operating milk car, REA reefer, two heavyweights, makes for a very nice branchline train.

Very nice set up, but should you not have the GP turned around the other way. But then again that might depend on the railroad or the engine control design. However I always figured the short end on a diesel was the front, except for switcher engines and the FM's

I have every lionel catalog from 1949 to 1963 and every GP7 and GP9 pictured in them shows the cab in the rear while pulling a train so that is the basis for my use.

Depended on the railroad, and what they deemed F. or front. Some had dual controls so could go either way.

@@stevefleming2176 Yes the first GP's I recall seeing were the ones with the lower hood and usually they ran those with the short end, low hood in the front, but as I found out that is not always the case. Apparently the high hood ones were ran like the steam engines with the longer part out front.

CB&Q did not even paint any geeps passenger silver as far as I know. Many railroads' passenger geeps ran long hood forward or had dual controls mainly for commuter service.
