Whether Messi won the World Cup or didn’t there was never a debate for me, but now the icing on the cake for all. He was in the conversation for GOAT at age 23 and now at 35 he still is. I managed to escape a heart attack multiple times in this freaking game. Glad Messi & ARG won but FRA did well also!

Being a Ronaldo fan, I have to humbly submit to the fact that the GOAT title goes to Messi. It hurts to admit that but truth can be hurtful at times. On an ending note, I will say that Mbappe had a spectacular game today and will hopefully have a bright future.

It's incredible to think that after his four final losses for Argentina, he's now been part of a side that has won three finals in a row since 2020. I really thought he was just cursed with bad luck at international level before Argentina won the Copa America in Brazil. As someone who's watched him since his debut for Barca, it's so pleasing to see him finish his career with those achievements, especially a world cup. To do that between the age of 33-35 just makes his legacy even more incredible.

I saw Pele with the Cosmos at Yankee stadium. For his age he was still amazing. He could jump so high and used his leverage, skill, low center of gravity to be strong a no 9 (7). Maradona was constantly kicked but was so fast, skillful and amazing. After Owen and Shearer plus other Continental stars were getting hurt due to kicking brutally the owners/executives decided to change the game. Leo is the best of his time but I still have him equal with Pele and Maradona. I did see Messi play in Giants stadium for the Final of Copa Centanario and I saw him train with MSN…so amazing and Neymar was on 🔥 in that session. The big 3 is Messi Pele Maradona

100% with you on all..he was great in copa and finalissama but wow rough wc that shot should have been one touch in net he took time defender recovered. then header .....really gave away how hews struggling he heded it 10 yards wide but he was great in others thank god for julian and enzo and mccalister was phenomenal too I thought lo celso loss was going to cause issues we saw in Saudi match where asking messi to create and finish like 2014 where he can do either and did just not both at same time. Luckily julian activity, same with enzo and mccalister's possession was most pleasant surpriseand allowed messi to drift and stay dangerous in final third. De paul and paredes warrior efforts molina, romero were great, otamendi always has moments but overall solid same with acuna. Incredible:) Euro, finalissima, WC this team has the spine of every champion squad coach ,captain ,chemistry, and keeper!! martinez was sensational!!! Amazing I felt equal parts elated , sick then elated/exhausted :) congrats!

@@ryanphelan6861 I fully agree. It really was a rollercoaster of emotions, it's why I was so pissed at Lautaro, he really could have ended things. He even missed from that Acuna pass, and did not make his positioning and movement when Messi played him 1v1, and he even missed that one too. He came on as a sub and got 4 great, great chances. I was sad for Alvarez because he worked really hard as always in that final but didn't get a chance, only for Martinez to waste so many. But yeah, the team was fantastic in the effort they put throughout the tournament. Yeah, it's like 3 straight titles in 2 years to crown Messi's International career.

I am united fan and been a Ronaldo fan since I followed united in 2007. But when I watched Messi especially in 2010 I knew he was the greatest player to ever walk the earth. There is no player like him and there never will be. But there will be more players like Ronaldo.

DiMaria scored in the Olympic Final, Finalissimo, scored the 0-1 goal against Brazil in Copa America Final which decided it for Argentina and created the first two goals of this World Cup Final. And yet nobody rarely talks about this absolute HUGE player. Amazing.

Aside from being the most gifted player ever seen, Messi is also a true team man, willing to adapt to the role required of him. If somebody else is better placed to get the goals and glory, he'll gladly provide for them. Meanwhile, there's Ronaldo more concerned with scamming group stage goals he never even touches, his hangers on raging that a 37 year-old isn't having everything built around him anymore.

Absolutely the best World Cup final in history. Both teams completely deserved this, playing to win to the last available second! Both managers deserve praise for the courage of their game plans. Both teams played *so* well 😁 France came back *twice* in a World Cup final ffs. Just astounding. I called Argentina to win at the beginning of the tournament but my heart wanted France. Injuries to 5 major players before it even started... injuries from the 1st minutes of the tournament... virus running through the squad in the days right before the final... *and still they did not let us down!* Congratulations Argentina!

For me, it’s never been a debate between Messi and Ronaldo. Ronaldo fans lay out STATs to show how great he is but Meesi fans lay out actual PERFORMANCES to show how great he is. That’s the difference between the two, period. Messi is the GOAT.

It was not that defenders didn't try hard enough to take Messi down, it's just that they couldn't.
