The GG1 was my Dad's all time favorite locomotive! The PRR was his favorite road name. He started me on a life long love affair with trains. At two years old, I remember his HO layout. Later on, when I was around 4 or 5 he would take me down to Otto Road in Glendale, NY to look for Alcos. Long story short, I'm retired from a 25 year career with CSX and Metro North RR. Now, at 64, I'm enjoying my mostly post war Lionel layout and collection. Thanks Dad, I miss you and our railroad adventures.

The GG1 is one of the few engines that was powerful enough to pull freight and fast enough to pull passengers.

Great motivational video I am fortunate to have my original 1949 green and a1975 red w/Congressional cars. Trying to fire up my layout again and shoot some video.

I can say that I think post war lionel is cheaper, easier to maintain, and just as good if not better looking than a vast majority of newer items.

Interesting and enjoyable video. Thanks. Picked up a K-Line version last Christmas, but due to a layout rebuild I haven't been able to run it yet.

GG1's are awesome engines. The real ones did over 50 yrs. of service with PRR and then the NJC. I have post-war replica and a scale is MTH. I also have a scale congressional train to go with the scale model.
