Securing fatal bites while having bone after bone fractured by the Grizzly repeatedly swiping at you and tearing off bits of hide would be quite difficult, which is why it’s rare to see altercations between the 2 species.

@@megamcchicken5769 the tiger is the regarded as the top land predator along with the grizzly and polar bear. Having said that i doubt a lion or tiger can even come close to 800-1000 pound grizzly. A tiger might have q better shot a lion has zero shot. These are fables made up by people fantasizing. A grizzly bear is no joke and amount of athleticism plus brute strength they have is uparrelled. Youd need a 600-700 pound tiger to try to even match it. A lion would get crushed in a minute. This a useless comparison. The rich goldminers use to import grizzlies and lions to bet on fighting in the west during the gold rush era. Lions would get taken out by the grizzlies within a minute theyd get knocked or get their skull crushed by the grizzly.

@@gabrielmicu4085 Grizzly bears are almost just as skilled as the lion is only slytle more skilled then grizzly but its way more stronger they have bone scrushing paws that can break a lions back

I think the biggest thing that gets overlooked when it comes to the big cats facing off against giant grizzlies is the stamina factor. Big Cats don't have a lot of stamina. That's a huge advantage for bears considering how much damage they can take.

And I've never seen a big cat fight a buffalo. Maybe hunt a buffalo. But that and a one v one fight with a bear are two totally different things.

Grizzlies are stronger overall. They are way muscular. Watch a grizzly fight. After watch a lion fight. A male grizzly can weight up to 1700 pounds. While male lions 570 pounds. If a grizzly can over power another grizzly, a grizzly would FLIP a lion. It’s just pound for pound comparison. Grizzly vs lion can be compared to an adult human vs an angry house cat. (But the human has claws too) the bear would get a few scratches but nothing else.

The males are heavier than the females and can weigh up to 1,700 pounds (770 kilograms). A large female will weigh up to 800 pounds (360 kilograms). The Lion will bow down without asking any further questions now as for the Tiger and Bear they might really go at it. Eventually the Tiger will become submissive to the 900lbs+ Bear.

@@iplaywithbumz No a Siberian Tiger weight 900lbs and they bigger stronger and faster then the Bangle Tiger that weight 600+lbs and Tigers actually can kill or beat a bear unlike a Lion.

Grizzlys may be big and robust but they are by no means slow. The speed at which they can throw their teeth forwards for a bite is more than impressive compared to their size.

Bear have everything to be the complete ultimate killer except for maybe Agility. The only chance a lion has if he can struck the neck from behind without giving the bear a chance to roll over. So it has to be ambush or insane quick movements, except the lion live in tribes and a bear would start to run away. A one on one in nature I don't think they would start a fight with each other, especially the bear is a solitary hunter that doesnt take as much risk as a Lion is willing to take. The Lion is also very aggressive and would in desperation attack an the bear would react by running away as it has a better stamina then a Lion. The bear woudn't run because it things its weaker, its about risk/reward and they aren't used to being attacked unless its another bear. Considerating that a Lion is very agressive and would take on everything I think that confidence will make a bear run and not risk it.

I agree with this. The lion has a more specialized skillset than the bear. Its honed techniques for taking down prey a specific way. The bear is a brute and an all around fighter with its huge paws, size and grappling/wrestling skills

The biggest factor for me is the fur and skin. The fibers in the grizzle allow for a loose feel making them more protected against claw cuts. The thick fur helps even more. Grizzly would win easily

The skin and fur won’t protect a bear from 3inch claws that are shaped like hooks these claws are designed to rip and grip prey it would rip through the skin and fur but yes a grizzly would win over a lion but against a tiger that’s a whole Nother situation we’re the tiger has the higher chance of winning.

@@antyh8313 grizzlies have single handedly killed adult moose which weight up to 1500 lbs. lions only kill in packs and buffalo are maxed at 2000 lbs. Also grizzlies have over 4 inch claws to the lions 1.5 inch claws. Any day the thick loose hide of the grizzly bears the thin tight skin of the lion

Imagine running into Arctotherium Angustidens... It was a bear with a max weight of 3500lbs. It lived in the Pleistocene Era in South America. It was 6 foot tall at the shoulder on all fours.

The food chain don't lie, bears don't exist where they're eaten, nothing survives without being eaten, And I've yet to see lions on said food chain, while bears eat berry's and fish one can miss me with the size of someone or something being superior, I'll take a killer instinct over size all day...

Lions along with other big cats have a pretty short stamina, it all comes down is to who could last longer in a fight. Bears have a pretty good stamina. I give it to the grizzly.

Large bears like Brown bears and Polar bears are the most powerful land predators. It doesn't mean they can always best a big cat like a lion or tiger in battle, but there no contest for strength. Bears have off the charts power!!

I recall reading an article that said that in the early 20th century, a tiger at the circus got loose and attacked a brown bear. The bear swatted the tiger on the head with his massive paws. The swat shattered the tiger's skull and a broken piece of skull stabbed into it's brain killing it instantly.

I was talking about a 1 vs 1 fight.Tigers attack in groups of several individuals(3-4) and usually even then this is not an easy task for them. If they meet accidentally, they probably try not to fight with each other (1 on 1). Yes, Siberian tigers can go one on one even with a big bear.But in general, the bear will win in most cases.He is stronger and bugger. I respect big cats, but also know they're have limits.

If I remember correctly, it was in the video "Bengal Tiger vs Siberian Tiger", so you can check that there yourself, if you want. Anyways, they reported that, out of 44 monitored 1x1 encounters between tigers and bears in siberia, 22 bears were killed, whereas only 12 tigers were killed, which indicates an advantage to the tigers. Now, they didn't actually comment directly on the actual outcome of these encounters, on on the deaths. They also made no mention of the age of the animals involved, so one might argue that not all of those 22 bears were fully grown adult specimens. One thing I would also ask, and perhaps you know the answer yourself, is that how the siberian bears compare with grizzly bears and kodiak bears. Are they the same size? Bigger? Smaller? Lastly, I would think a grizzly bear is more likely to come up on top when facing a tiger (even though tigers are my favorite animals), but those stats mentioned above made me rethink that whole I was watching that other video.

Grizzlies, Polar and Brown Bears are really underestimated. Yes Both Tigers and Lions can probably hunt smaller other breeds of Bears, like the Sun Bear you can find them around Asia and the black Bear which you can find in the Northern Region in Alaska or Canada. But cmon you really think a Big Brown Grizzly weighting 600+ lbs is going to put up with any bull****, yea a wolverine might try and pull some trick and might get lucky once in a blue because that’s a whole another breed right there, but an angry Bear weighting 600lbs+ pounds is going to run they’re pockets.

A kodiac once weighed over 2400 pounds

During the gold rush in California it was fairly common for people to capture Grizzly Bears and make them fight bulls for entertainment. Most of the time the bear won. Then someone got the bight idea to import several African Lions to fight against their local bears. It ended up being a disappointment however as the bears had no trouble killing the lions. Often one hit from a bears paw was enough to crush a lions skull. PS) Brown Bears and Lions did historically overlap in the mountains of Morocco.

A grizzly bear fighting a lion would be like a high school kid wrestling a 5th grader. A high school kid would be twice the size of a 5th grader and would immediately pin him.

The main difference between these animals is size and strength. Because of this, in a straight up fight the bear will beat the cat.

Lions mostly fight with 3 paws on the ground and strike with their right arm only while bears fight by standing up on 2 legs and grapple and wrestle their opponent and maul it to the ground. Bears are like wrestlers while lions are like boxers and wrestlers > boxers

Obviously the grizzly bear. Lions are formidable, but brown bears are insanely tough. The scene in The Revenant where he shoots the bear and it just gets angry and rushes him isn't an exaggeration. Two hunters got mauled by one once, and though one of them managed to deliver a fatal gunshot wound, all it did was anger the bear in the short term. It was found dead like 10 km away or something, only leaving after it was satisfied that it had shown the hunters who is boss and they were both playing dead.

It knocked it on its ass and my dad ran up and shot it at least twice more with a 45 caliber black powder pistol and it ran away like I had hit it with a paintball. Unfortunately it started raining like holy hell and we lost the blood trail. I was so pissed, I don't like killing animals unless I'm going to eat it and bear is tasty. I've hit deer with the same bullet and 80-90 grains of powder and it literally knocked them down. Still can't believe it didn't kill that bear outright. Probably around 300lbs so not a small black bear but nothing huge either. Been over 20 years and I'm still pissed.

Yep, Bears have a very slow heart beat and it takes a long time for them to bleed out. Unless you can get a brain or spine shot in, they'll continue to charge even after receiving a mortal wound. Needless to say getting in that type of shot wouldn't be easy against a charging grizzly coming at you at 35 mph

No that's just not true. The only time that bears regularly used to be matched against lions was in Roman amphitheatres where the lions regularly outdid the brown Atlas Bears. In recent years they have fought and the recorded fights are as follows: In March 1902, a sick lioness smashed a bear’s skull and neck with one blow. In 1906, a lion killed a tiger, bear, and cow in the same arena. In 1908, a male lion named Baltimore killed a 900-pound Russian brown bear at the Coney Island Bostock animal enclosure. A lion killed a bear at the Mundy’s Show in Lunar Park by lacerating the bear’s throat. In 1917 in Kane, Pennsylvania, a lion outclassed a bear at the carnival grounds and quickly killed it. In 1930, a young lion in a circus at Cassell, Germany, killed a caged Siberian bear. In 1933, an African lion killed a grizzly bear in Kansas with one blow. In 1935 a male lion named Menelik killed a grizzly bear named President by biting its head, almost pulling it off. Obviously, Grizzlies are apex animals but they don't live in a continent where there are so many other dangerous species like the Lion in Africa.

I was driving uphill in Sequoia National Park and a black bear popped out of the forest in front of us. Not a grizzly, but we were going uphill about 35-40 mph and that black bear stayed in front of us for about 200 meters. Uphill. It was very impressive. Bears, any day. They might seem slow and lethargic, but it just a rope-a-dope.

Pit the biggest cat against the grizzly, a full grown male grizzly will win almost always. Their combat prowess is second to none and ability to take damage is top notch to boot

A bear strike is so strong, i heard a story that a friend of mine saw a bear cub break a padlock to get to some deer food he had in a shed. One swipe was all it took. And that was only a black bear.

Very well done! Hard to imagine, but in the distant past such confrontations actually occurred. My guess in a one on one situation the fact that the griz stood up would cause the lion to depart. I am sure though that some confrontations occurred where two or more lions came up against a grizzly bear. Two full grown male lions "might" take care of a griz, but even two males would probably depart as the risk of injury would be too great. The lion's mane would help significantly but one swipe of a grizzly's paw could easily be a knock out punch. My guess is that the lions when at all possible kept their distance from grizzly bears. The risk/reward would make no sense probably from either animals perspective.

The lions mane is hair not metal armor for christ sake. It may offer some protection against other lions or leopards or hyenas, but against animals like bears or tigers, it does little to help protect it's neck. If a lions mane offers it that good of protection, maybe the military should start making their combat vests out of it. IT IS A BUNCH OF INSECT INFESTED HAIR!!!!!!!!! Also there are many lions out there that their mane is pretty thin and you can see it's neck through it. Significant protection, hahahhahahahahhaahhahah that is hilarious.

If they were "forced" to fight, or if a fight was the only way out, I really don't believe a Grizzly would stand a chance against two male lions. Both parties would have been injured but the lions would have killed it off. There are videos of a SINGLE male lion taking down an african bull and video I saw 6-12 months ago or so, of a lion getting out of a crocodiles death-roll. Anyone who knows what video I'm talking about? I have tried to search "lion vs croc in water" "lion gets out of death roll" and so on. Lions are born fighters and a lot stronger than people think. It's a video on YT where you can see a lion drag a full grown croc with a wildebeest or something in it's mouth. I think people (not specifically you, but in general) are taking the bears weight way to much in consideration when they commenting on bears vs other animals. I also think on a 1v1, a full grown male lion stand a better chance than most people think. With that said, I love animals and a real fight between these two lovely species ain't gonna happen due to obvious reasons, and it would've meant that someone had to bring them together in an unlawful way. Such people shouldn't of course deal with animals, but there is a lot of cruelty out there on other animals.

Yeah I think I saw the similar video. I'm not sure but I think it was a black mother bear, which was almost 2x smaller than the tiger, they fought for like 10 minutes, then the tiger kept running, but in the end the Tiger realized he's not winning 🤣

I saved myself 11plus min with knowing already that 1 Lion doesn't stand a chance against a grown grizzly. A Siberia Tiger has more of a chance of going distance.

If you were to search,you would have found that lions were pitted against bears all the time ,many travelling circuses in America had a prize Lion, there's a famous one called Brutus and the king of Sweden , Frederick 2nd I believe, even had a Lion as he didnt believe how ferocious it were as it killed three of his bears..

Bears used to exist in Africa up until about three or so hundred years ago. They lived in the mountains of northern Africa. So their ranges did overlap but these bears were not the same as Grizzly bears. They where big bear and they where powerful predators and went extinct due mostly to humans.

Cats don't have the same kinda heart for fighting that bears and dogs have. Cats pretty much fight when they have size or numbers and will usually get rattled and try to run if a fight gets difficult. Bears are different. Grizzlies are AGRESSIVE and fight to the death. A small female grizzly with cubs would give a large male lion the worst day of its life

In the dispute between these two, part of me wants pull along with the lions. But there is also that voice in the back of my mind which speaks from the SNL & NFL chant... Da BEARS!

Polar Bear, Kodiack Grizzly, Siberian Tiger, Lion.. in that order
