SUBSCRIBE to Beastly: bit.ly/2ceCJY0
BRAVE animal ranger, Shandor Larenty, is back - and this time, he’s taming WILD cheetahs. The 24-year-old recently re-homed four brand new cats from captivity where they had never interacted with humans before. Helping them to settle into their new home at the Lion And Safari Park, in South Africa, Shandor still approaches with great caution and has been working on enrichment activities in order to strengthen their relationship. But will Shandor’s ambition be his downfall? This is the second episode in Barcroft TV's brand new three-part series: 'Big Cat Life', that airs on the Beastly KZread channel, with a new episode being released each week.

Working on building my own sanctuary similar to this. Was apprehensive about working with big cats and wolves, my heart was set on alligators alone (which is still partly the plan), but slowly I’m gravitating more towards carnivores as a whole. While the general public might not benefit as much from videos like these (aside from showing just how beautiful these animals are, and that protecting them and their habitats is important), I want you to know how much information like this helps people in my shoes. Keep doing what you’re doing!

The girafe, a diva!... LOL When I was about 15-16 years old we went to this zoo… As we were trying to take pictures of us and the girafe the guy in charge was laughing at us… He then proceeded to ask us if we wanted to feed the girafes… Little did we know he was talking about GOING INTO THE ENCLOSURE!... This is a memory I will Always cherish!... For Reasons I don't know, we were the only ones (the five of us) to be allowed into the enclosure and feed the girafes!... I must admit I was scared to death because they are so HUGE but enjoyed it very much!... I no longer go to zoos because I can't stand watching beautiful wild animals, being bored out of their mind and stuck in such small enclosures for the enjoyment of narcissistic "pround" members of the human race being stared at and mocked by members of the "so called" superior human race….

I get he’s a professional but he really needs to stop saying cheetahs are dangerous because if they were you would’ve been dead by being around 4. They aren’t leopards or mountains lions, they are quite docile and have shown to be comfortable around tourists. A normal kick can severely hurt a cheetah and they also don’t have a strong bite force or claws. If it weren’t for expenses cheetahs would make good pets.

Guys there are no records of Cheetah’s EVER killing a human in the wild. In fact they have been considered the easiest of all the big cats to ‘tame’. Either way, the best way to have a safe interaction is when you raise them as cubs and interact with them as much as possible. This isn’t very safe imo. They still are predators and will attack if you are perceived as a threat
