Creating links in linux is very useful topic which could be helpful for you in many cases like easily access the directories, maintaining backup etc.
How to create Hard and Soft links in Linux.
Linux ln command
What are links in Linux?
A connection between a file name and the actual data on the disk.
We can call it a shortcut in Linux.
Difference between Soft and Hard link
Soft link: Link will be removed if original file removed or deleted.
ln -s
Hard link: Renaming, Deleting or removing the file will not effect the link
ln

Nice explanation. One quick question, how do we know or find out if a file we are using is the original file and not a hard link and if I'm working on someone else's project how I find out existing hardlinks in that machine.

We can differentiate Hardlink and Softlink! when we create a Hardlink it will show (-)rw-rw-r-- and in softlink will show (l)rwxrwxrwx with blue color differentiating each in vim editor! atleast what i noticed

2nd column belongs to hard link as I checked
After creating hard link with same name as file and subsequently doing ltr it does't show up as link file type. It show up as regular file -rw-rw-r--. Why is it so ?

hardlink is not applicable for folders right sir?? is it only applicable for files??

Hardlink will have same inode number, Soft link will have different inode number.

No, alias is useful in case of shortcut of commands and soft/hard links for files :)
