I've thought that have deep knowledge in Freecad - and I've begun to watch your videos... I've switched to LinkStage too. Making assemblies and complex pressure vessels with this setup is different now. Way different :)

Excellent video! I've been struggling to understand assemblies and links, and this really helps. Are the project files that are linked to in the cnc_rebuild assembly file ( e.g. cncBodyRebuild) siblings to the assembly file on the filesystem? Or are they nested in some sub directory hierarchy? I'm basically wondering if that technically matters to freecad, or if it just helps you to keep track of things.

Hi, as always excellent and I shall watch the whole series (I am sure many times... to fully understand it) One question, please: When I say "in context" I don't necessarily mean just attachment points, elements etc. Assume I have external sub-assemblies A and B, linked to a top level Assembly D. Inside Assembly D I now also have sub-assembly C that is related (positionally and dimensionally) to both sub-assemblies A and B. My main issue is the use of sub-shape binders to "context" C to both A and B. Advice from @realthunder was: "...I suggest you separate the process of modeling and assembling. If you want to use binder to do in context modeling, then it is better to make an assembly that is dedicated for this purpose. You then create a separate assembly in another file to use the model as part for assembling. This will reduce the chance of accidently change your model while assembling..." I am still a bit vague about best way to model things (that are related to each other) in separate/external files. Look forward to improving my understanding with your videos - thank you!!!!!

I see there is a now snap package available. I definitely will try that. Lost interest in trying apps in development that used appimages due to the really bad updating performance of appimages.

And that's a video that should come a long time ago as far as Assembly 3 is concerned. I had lots of problems with assemly 3 and using shapebinders and now I know why (cyclic reference issue). Also the whole "link" usage was also complicated. While doing assembly from bodies in one file, you could use shapebinder between them. However if you used "links" you couldn't use shapebinders because one body had to be active and you couldn't activate a "link" so you couldn't use shapebinder (for eg. transfering mounting holes from one body to another. Or is it now possible?
